Sister for Juliet

BeNavyReader · 11/11/2024 02:42

Looking for reader feedback on my shortlist of girls names for DD2 due March. Sister to Juliet. Wary of anything too frilly that might seem OTT alongside Juliet

Current thinking: Emma, Sophie, Bridget, Phoebe, Celia, Madeleine

I like Phoebe the best of those

What about Miranda, unless it is too Shakepearean alongside Juliet for you.

Alexandra?

I love Madeleine. I also think Frances and Alice both go really well with Juliet, or Cecily or Verity

WildGuide · 13/11/2024 08:20

Juliet is one of my fave ever girls names. Sadly I can’t use it with my surname but it’s gorgeous!

I like everything in your list but especially Bridget and Madeleine.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 12/11/2024 20:08

Of your choices- Madeleine (romantic French vibe with Juliet) or Celia (Shakespearean heroines for the win!) work the best imo as I think I’d want to choose something as similarly elegant and beautiful as Juliet.

More ideas: a Juliet I know has a sister called Rosalind (again subtle Shakespeare vibes) and I think Miranda or Beatrice could work well too.

Sophie, Emma and Phoebe are a little too dull/popular compared to Juliet for me and I find Bridget a bit dowdy sounding, sorry.

JackML · 12/11/2024 07:53

Celia is great

Selttan · 12/11/2024 07:33

Ivy is what first sprang to my mind. No idea why.

Celia and Pheobe are also Shakespeare characters (lesser known than Juliet of course but I studied As You Like It at school so it immediately jumped out), as are quite a few of the other suggestions people have been giving. So if you go for those just be aware that people might assume you're matching them on purpose. Maybe you are fine with that though so crack on!

Juliet and Laura.

Name changed because it’s obviously incredibly outing, but I have a Juliet with little sister Celia (Cecilia). So it’s reassuring how many people like it!

DubLass · 11/11/2024 22:57

Esme and Juliet !

I like Phoebe the best of your list. Then Madeleine and third Emma. All wonderful, timeless names.

All nice, I wouldn’t do Bridget with Juliet though.

My first thought was Felicity.

tangobravo · 11/11/2024 22:12

Vanessa, Catherine, Rachel, Emily

BootballJoy · 11/11/2024 21:59

Phoebe and Madeleine are lovely. Quite like Celia and Sophie as well. Bridget is good too (perhaps a bit matchy with Juliet?), and although Emma's my least favourite it's still a decent name. Really good name-list!

(Also like PP's suggestions of Rosalind, Philippa and Francesca.)

Jeezypeepz · 11/11/2024 02:44

Love Phoebe. Eleanor?

Eleanor was my first thought too!
Love Sophie but agree with a pp it seems a different type of name to Juliet. Madeleine is lovely and goes much better.

okydokethen · 11/11/2024 08:42

Juliet and Evelyn
