help me find a boy's name pleeeaaassseee!!!

ok i'm 20 weeks pregnant and have just found out i am having a boy

whilst we had loads of girls names we are finding it harder to come up with a name for our little boy

so far on my list i have

jack
george
preston
austin
charlie
sid

on dh's list are

mason
brodie
christian
sid

i like brodie but just think that it's maybe too american and also both our other kids names end in a eee sound and that it;s just too much. Dh also likes sid like me but not sure if lo would get teased with a name like that

opinions and suggestions would be great please

we can't really have any names beginning with h as our surname is similar to hill and it would sound a bit silly

LOL at amitymama - sometimes I think it's shorthand for weird, yes. But often (well, this is the way I would use it) it refers to using a 'surname' as a first name. This is quite common over here now too but I think it originated in the States

e.g.

Mason, Tyler, Brodie, MacKenzie, Taylor etc.

Of course, you can argue over what's a surname and what's a first name til the cows come home.

Ok, I keep seeing this comment with regards to names so I just have to ask: what does it mean when someone says a name is "too American?" Is that just another way of saying 'weird' or something?

Not crazy about Preston, Austin or Mason but the others are nice.

Charlie, Charlie, Charlie!!! It's lovely. I was going to call my DS Jack, but when I saw him I said, "oh, he's not Jack", and he went nameless for about 3 days till we found the right fit. I suggest wait to see what suits him. (But failing that def go for Charlie)!

I only like jack and austin, not keen on Sid at all but it is what you like that counts!

brodie is unisex

biys names are harder i think, mine are called

samuel godfrey
stirling max
harold jarvis griffith
sebastian george

so there may be ideas there, but you might have to compromise and just have something you can both live with as opposed to love

Oh! I don't watch Eastenders. I'm running out of ideas now. I think boys names are definitely harder than girls.

Don't like Preston but the rest are fine.

was it jamie theakston- not sure bot some c list celeb had a sid last week

ds4's middle name is george so obv like that

love Christian (dh said no)

Austin fab (buti did used to collect mini's and nearly married a mr healy)

dont like preston or brodie muvh but its your choice not mine

I think Sid on its own is fine. Not sure about Brodie. I also like Christian (but it's bound to be shortened to Chris) and another name I like (but might be too American for you), is Ethan.

we both like sid but would it be sid or sidney? and now dh is set on brodie arrgghhh need to talk him round will be showing him this thread tonight

I love Sid. Think it's really cute. I only knew one baby Sid and he's grown up now.
