Half Greek baby boy due soon. Will likely grow up in London. Struggling for names!!

Nickname would be Dio (to rhyme with Leo).

Demetrius?

If you're struggling to spell it correctly now, imagine the lifetime of 'and how are you spelling that?' from birth for life. Believe me, it's tiresome.

Procrastinates · 12/10/2024 13:58

I really wouldn't. I suspect even those living in Greece would be hesitant to use it. If he's going to grow up in London I'd chose something that gave a nod to the greek side but doesn't stand out.

Legit name and I personally love it, at least if his surname will be Greek.

This is on point. That said if the surname is jones or smith it could ooze cool.

It‘s ok generally.
I like Pyros, or Konstantinos (Kostas)

That's Dionysus isn't it?

Not sure if OP is spelling it wrong or her version is a legit different name.

Yes. Dionysios/Dionysius is the name related to Dionysus.

My brother is Alexandros. It’s a great name but I can’t use it!

God of wine-making. It's something to live up to!

In my opinion, no. It sounds like an illness or condition. How about something more cross-cultural such as Alexander?

HermioneWeasley · 12/10/2024 13:48

Alexander
leonidas if you want Leo
Christos
antony
Nikos

qwertyasdfgzxcv · 12/10/2024 13:47

Dion on its own could work

qwertyasdfgzxcv · 12/10/2024 13:47

Not Orestes because of the backstory or Oedipus!

How about Alexander or Lysander?
