I know they are very different but I love both equally and I am struggling to pick
which would you pick??

Caspar! I don’t think of it as a ghost, it’s a movie from 1995. Firstly, the ghost movie was spelt differently + no one his age will know anything about it. I don’t think Frank is a nice name at all for a little boy, it’s more an old age pensioners name.

Pumpkincozynights · 10/10/2024 17:20

I’m old enough to remember when Frank was an awful name. It reminds of Some Mothers do ‘av em.
I also knew a truly vile man named Frank so it’s a no from me.
Casper is much better.

@TeaAndCake456
thank you, would not be using Franklin as the name as this has a completely different feel to Frank for me.
If using a longer version would use Francis

Oh gosh neither sorry OP! Both really awful sounds

TeaAndCake456 · 08/10/2024 21:31

I had both these names on my list!
I actually really like Frank (Franklin).

But Caspar is my favourite (I am biased) & I much prefer it to the Casper spelling.

Choose what you feel is right for you

LastNight1Dreamt1WentToManderleyAgain · 08/10/2024 15:08

Francis 🥰

FluffMagnet · 08/10/2024 15:03

I'm afraid I find Frank a truly awful name and such a horrible noise. I do, however, like Francis.

On the other hand, Caspar is a wonderful name.

LastNight1Dreamt1WentToManderleyAgain · 08/10/2024 15:01

Caspar makes me think of Caspar David Friedrich who painted an unironic Lone Brooding Man that makes me want to laugh.

VenusClapTrap · 08/10/2024 14:56

Caspar. Really don’t like Frank. It makes me think of Frank Butcher and frankfurters.

shoopshoopdedoo · 08/10/2024 05:58

I love Frank.

But then I really don’t like Caspar at all, so I’d pick almost anything ahead of that! I know I’m in the minority on MN.

merrymelodies · 08/10/2024 04:10

Caspar! Or Francis. But not Frankenstein, Frankfurt, franks-n-beans...

GoldenDoorHandles · 08/10/2024 04:06

Both nice but very different. Frank if you want something traditional. Caspar says innovative. I think the friendly ghost thing is just from parents generations, I doubt kids will think of it unless there's a rerelease. So it's a lovely name with a slight risk.

I personally like jasper.

BlackToes · 08/10/2024 04:03

Love both. Frank and Frankie a little more than Caspar

LastNight1Dreamt1WentToManderleyAgain · 08/10/2024 01:15

Francis? Frederick? Karol? Charles? Gaspard?

DramaAlpaca · 08/10/2024 01:12

IHateWasps · 07/10/2024 19:07

Caspar is lovely. Definitely Caspar.

Frank is such a harsh ugly name.

I completely agree.

How anybody could even think of calling their gorgeous baby Frank is utterly beyond me. Such an unattractive name.

user1492757084 · 08/10/2024 00:57

Do you like Christopher?

user1492757084 · 08/10/2024 00:57

Caspar.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 07/10/2024 22:35

Caspar -yes, he might get the odd friendly ghost joke from middle aged or older people but that’s pretty innocuous (and it might also get misspelt) but it’s a very nice sounding name (although I personally like similar Caspian even more).

Frank seems dull and a bit trendy in comparison imo (yet another “old man” diminutive) but I guess he’d fit right in with the Ted’s, Lenny’s, Alfie’s, Reggie’s etc at school.

Justsayit123 · 07/10/2024 21:16

Northern. Sorry. Associate caspar with a ghost and frank as in be frank about drugs.

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 07/10/2024 21:13

Would you consider Jasper to avoid ghost connotations?
Frank to me is a certain type of old man in a certain type of pub (both of the rough East end end variety -reminds me of my childhood)

Firsttimebabymummy · 07/10/2024 21:10

Frank. Frankie is cute too. Also known a Frankin do by Linny.

I know lots of white cats/ horses / rabbits called Casper. Can't help but think of the ghost too... although it's a decent name.

KayEmAy · 07/10/2024 20:55

Casper by a lot

mrssunshinexxx · 07/10/2024 20:07

Franklin? X

Bestfootfwd · 07/10/2024 19:46

Caspar! Caspar! Caspar!

saveforthat · 07/10/2024 19:45

Caspar/Casper will always be a friendly ghost. Frank is OK.
