I feel like this is the right now for our second DD

DP liked it when we discussed it earlier in the pregnancy but now he said he's worried it's like a stripper name

I don't think it is at all, please let me know your thoughts?

Pretty to look at but too difficult to say imo. Unless the pronouncer has very good diction, it will either end up "Awawa" or "A-Roarer".

On the other hand, my older one is definitely "A-Roarer" so the name would suit them.

I don't like it, sorry.

Agree with pp, it sounds like the kind of name a child would pick for their doll , very Disney Princessy.

As an adult, I can see where your husband is coming from, I'm afraid. It does sound more like a performers stage name than a high flying executive or serious professional etc

I don’t find it a nice name to pronounce. It’s sort of clunky to say. Rory as a NN for a girl is cute.

Hohofortherobbers · 29/09/2024 20:05

I don't like it, the harsh 'roar' in the middle

It is - my daughter declared Aurora to be her favourite name, and called her doll Aurora, when she was 6.

Yes I think I wanted to call my future daughter Aurora when I was about 7 but thought better of it at 34.

Grazyna80 · 29/09/2024 20:01

Love it! Beautiful name

Not a fan. It seems like the kind of name a child would pick.

Very popular but I love it

It is cute on a kid but my friend is Aurora and she goes by Rory because she feels embarrassed saying Aurora as an adult. But that's just her opinion

Sologurn · 29/09/2024 19:59

It's lush. Doesn't matter what we think. There's always some who love it and some who hate it

BeautyPageantDropout · 29/09/2024 19:58

It seems to have become so popular in the last 5 years or so.

I don't think of it as a stripper name but I can't say I love it. Think it's an awkward and clunky sound.

I think of fireworks...😐

Haroldwilson · 29/09/2024 19:51

I can't pronounce my Rs very well (increasingly common) so would find it difficult for that reason. Auwrowra if I say it. It's not that bad if I say a name like Robert with a single R, but two Rs emphasise it.

lespameo · 29/09/2024 19:49

Ps I've never thought of it to be a stripper name! I think aurora borealis or princess aurora!

afrikat · 29/09/2024 19:48

I love it! Often wish I'd used it for my daughter

lespameo · 29/09/2024 19:47

My 9 year old is Aurora and I love it now just as much as I loved it when I was pregnant. Her nickname has been Rory since birth which I never expected but I quite like it as it's quirky and normally given for a boy. She likes being called both!
