Tallulah or Jessica?

Our baby is due any time soon and we are still not decided on a girls name (have chosen a boys).

Jessica we like as it's traditional and flexible (able to shorten), but maybe a little too 'safe' as a choice.

We also like Tallulah, again an old traditional name and flexible, but we are not sure if it's a little bit too unusual.

Please shared some opinions with me to help us decide!

i'm actually quite surprised by the reaction on here

makes no odds to me tho, each to their own, i still love the name

sophiebbb · 21/04/2008 22:29

Thank you lou33 for replying. We are going to use it anyway . Tallulah Daisy is nice!!! We are going for an Italian middle name as DH is from there.

lou33 · 21/04/2008 21:16

i mean never, sorry

lou33 · 21/04/2008 21:13

sophie she is 11, this is the first time i have ever heard any negative comments about her name

its usually something along the lines of "what a pretty name" etc

it suits her, she is a delicate looking thing, a bit like a fairy

but really, it doesnt matter what anyone else thinks about a name, if you like it then use it

her middle name is daisy btw

DrNortherner · 21/04/2008 20:12

My cat is called Tallulah

Ceelo · 21/04/2008 20:08

millions of girls are called jessica!!!

msappropriate · 21/04/2008 19:59

I love Tallulah. I taught a lovely one.

Jessica always sounds a bit strait laced to me.

vicsta · 21/04/2008 19:57

Jessica. 'Fraid Tallulah doesn't do anything for me. Sorry. Like Talia though.

sophiebbb · 21/04/2008 19:55

To lou33 - how old is your Tallulah and has she ever had any negative experiences with her name. Genuinely interested because it is our first choice name for our girl - due tomorrow......!

HonoriaGlossop · 21/04/2008 19:18

I think Jessica is the nicer, too. Tallulah just not so pretty. And I like Jess for a teenager; I know a really cool teenage Jess

Idobelieveinfairies · 21/04/2008 19:09

I love Tallulah!

I do like jessica too, but it is quite common now.

You could shorten it to Tally sometimes too no?!...i like Tally/Talia!

lou33 · 21/04/2008 19:05

i have a tallulah

Janni · 21/04/2008 18:52

Jessica

GrapefruitMoon · 21/04/2008 18:49

i actually like both - and I don't normally like names like Tallulah - think it's because of the Go-Betweens song maybe!

LolaTheShowgirl · 21/04/2008 18:47

Jessica is nice. Tallulah sounds like something Jordan would name her baby!

Also I can imagine an adult Tallulah going for a job and not getting it because of her name (sad, but true).

amazonianwoman · 21/04/2008 15:24

Like Jessica, can't picture an adult with Tallulah as a name

Muuuuuuuuum · 21/04/2008 14:47

your baby, your choice

don't let others influence you.

we couldn't think of a girls name for our first and that turned out to be a boy - does this mean yours is too?!

Hulababy · 21/04/2008 14:43

I much prefer the name Jessica

ninedragons · 21/04/2008 14:41

Jessica is chic. Tallulah is really not.

nowwearefour · 21/04/2008 14:20

definitely jessica

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 21/04/2008 14:19

Jessica is lovely. Tallulah is not. At all.

booge · 21/04/2008 13:49

I like both.

daisyj · 21/04/2008 13:40

I LOVE Tallulah. It's one of my favourite names but DH won't let me have it! If she doesn't like it when she's older she could always use Lulu or Tilly.

Tommy · 21/04/2008 13:40

Jessica - my god daughter is Jessica or Jess or Jessie. Much more classy than Tallulah I reckon
