thoughts on Morgan for a boy...

it's about the only name DH and I can agree on for our first (due in 6 weeks) and is also the maiden name of my friend who introduced me to DH in the first place

he is Welsh and has a typical Welsh surname but i am English and it is likely we will stay living in England so wanted something to give him a sense of heritage but...

recently i have seen that Melina Messenger has a son called Morgan plus i think Bianca's son on Eastenders is also Morgan

Am I thinking too hard on this one?? Why is it that boys names are so hard to choose - no contest for a girl if we ever have one she will be Rhiannon

I love it, but the thought that it is on Eastenders puts me off and no way would I use it now.

Was my dad's name though

other "old" names that seem to be around a lot are eira and dewi

It was my grandad's middle name. I like it

My sister used it though so I chose Rhys instead

Nope, sounds like a 'surname name' tn me - Mason, Brandon, Taylor, mckenzie etc, and they're usually quite chavvy.

Isn't it a Scottish name? I knew a Scot called Morgan.

I think it's actually Bianca's daughter who is called Morgan isn't it, as it does seem to be unisex name?

ah it means bright sea, its from another word

and is both welsh AND old english. thats pretty cool, surely, for a welsh-english child?

It is popular for a boy and a girl right now in Scotland. I taught in a class where there were two Morgans - one male and one female! (Both lovely children too!)

Nice name. It can be used as a girl's name as well, but I think of it as a (Welsh) boy's name.

It's a traditional Welsh surname like Jones or Evans or Davies I think, daisy.

I like it, but I have never known a Morgan (and I've known a few) who wasn't naughty.

it means something to do with the sea, I expect. by the sea or something. I shall google

I think its a great name for a welsh-english child, it works in both cultures well.

I tend to lean towards more traditional names. My cousin has a morgan (because she likes the drink ), but she is a girl.

There's a Morgan on a new US TV show (Chuck).

I think it's a nice name, really, but it might be a bad association?

its also fine for english speakersm unlike, say, iolo, or gruffydd (sp)
