I love all the Alex-y names (I have an Alexandra), so Alexander is my favourite!
Moreover, it sounds good with the middle and surnames.

spaceshooter · 10/09/2024 11:39

Didn't know Zachary is biblical but I've not read the book and am atheist. I thought it was American because of teen programmes as a kid, sorry!

boysmuminherts · 10/09/2024 09:46

Evidently you are in Scotland so stating the obvious, Fraser is very Scottish imo.
Alexander very classic and Zachary a bit more trendy.
I think they're listed in my order of preference.

Neverstophoping · 10/09/2024 02:34

Very biased here because my DS is an Alexander.
I love the name. And it's so versatile. Alexander, Alex, Zander.
Alexander Neil McClement makes a real statement. Would be a great choice.

ThenYouCrossMe · 10/09/2024 02:25

I really like Zach so I'd choose Zachary. Alexander is ok but don't like Fraser or Neil at all.

anareen · 10/09/2024 02:16

I'll be the oddball here. I have always LOVED Fraser! With one of my sons we had him take the family middle name "fletcher". Close enough for me lol.

BoleynMemories13 · 10/09/2024 02:12

You've listed them in my order if preference! Really not keen on Fraser but Alexander is an absolute classic with great nn potential and Zachary nn Zach is cool too.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 09/09/2024 23:53

Rare I like all the choices 🤣 , but I think first would be Alexander as I love a timeless “can’t go wrong” classic (assuming you like the nn’s too as it will get shortened).

Close second choice Fraser - very cool sound, very Scottish (although no nn options if he doesn’t like it).

I don’t think Zachary flows quite as well with your surname as they are both 3 syllables- although “Zack Mack” is really memorable!

First one.

Fraser I don't like.

Zachery too American.

Zachary is a biblical name, there’s nothing especially American about it

theduchessofspork · 09/09/2024 23:38

Far too many baby Alexes around at the moment so I’d go for Zachary

Zach McClement sounds very good too

I don’t like Fraser

I've got a 2 year old Alexander and I love his name. It's classic, international, and has lots of good nicknames for him to choose when he's older.

He goes by Alex to most people, Ally-Bally sometimes to me, Alexand-wich to his 4 year old brother sometimes.

When he was a day old I told the midwife his name and she said "aww, you can rely on an Alex!"

The only thing that gave me pause when naming him was that Alexander is in something like the top 20 names by popularity, whereas my DS1's name is outside the top 300. DS1 is one of two in his school year and we've met several others, whereas I don't think I've met another boy called Alex under the age of 5.

Go for Alexander!

rainingsnoring · 09/09/2024 21:21

Alexander is great! Zachary is fine. Not keen on Fraser.

Shoesshoes87 · 09/09/2024 20:25

Alexander

NewPinkJumper · 09/09/2024 20:15

Thanks folks, Alexander is my favourite and this is convincing me more it's a good choice :)

Love Zachary. It was on my shortlist.

Alexander is a solid classic with many nn options

Not a fan of Fraser at all, sorry

arlequin · 09/09/2024 19:40

Love Alexander but know soooooo many

Me too. Alexander is an underrated name IMO.

Same! Love Alexander, it’s really grown on me.

TeamPolin · 09/09/2024 19:19

Alexander Neil McClement sounds awesome. Very distinguished!

Fraser is also nice.

Zachary would be way down the bottom of the list.

FayCarew · 09/09/2024 18:51

Fraser.
Alex McCl and Zac McCl have too many K sounds. Zac Mac?

Fraser might get Frasier a bit if you're not in Scotland.

I like Neil.

Nicebloomers · 09/09/2024 18:29

Fraser Neil is a great name. Alexander runner up. Zachary is my least favourite.

UmopapIsdn · 09/09/2024 17:33

Alexander for sure

spaceshooter · 09/09/2024 17:04

First one.

Fraser I don't like.

Zachery too American.

tealsea · 09/09/2024 17:01

If you’re in Scotland Fraser won’t get any weird pronunciations (at least I’ve never heard any). It’s a very popular name amongst teenagers/young men here (west coast) but I’ve not seen many baby/toddlers with it lately. I’d say definitely Fraser or Alexander.

NewtonsCradle · 09/09/2024 16:55

Neil Alexander McClement
Neil Zachary McClement
Fraser Neil McClement
I think 3 syllables is a lot for both the first and second name but I imagine he'd become Alex or Zack quite quickly. They're all good names.
