Cassius or Franklin or Frank

FWIW I prefer just Frank partner seems to think it needs lengthening but the Lin part just seem a little unnecessary.

i love Cassius not so keen on Cass

What if he decides when he’s older that he wants to be Frank

Then that'll be up to him but I don't have to like it. As it stands, he loves his name as it is, and actively reminds people if they shorten it to anything else.
The only person that gets away with calling him Frankie occasionally, is our toddler, but she's super cute, so he gives her some leeway!

I have a 10yr old Franklin, but I really don't like Frank, and so he's always referred to as his full name. He loves it, it's just enough different not to be totally weird, which has been our criteria for all of our children!

Frank.

showmethegin · 09/09/2024 19:14

Casper?

TightGlazedDonut · 09/09/2024 19:05

Frank. Fred?
I would expect an English Cassius to have a sunbed mum and live in a house with Live Live Laugh signs everywhere and a brother called Tyson

VenusClapTrap · 09/09/2024 18:55

Francis

BoreOffAboutYerChickensEmma · 09/09/2024 06:00

Frank the Wank is a nickname I heard attached to kids at school and an awful boss. For this reason I would avoid.

Dream2762 · 09/09/2024 05:48

Cassius just reminds me of Mohammed Ali. Many will assume that’s why you chose the name.

sel2223 · 09/09/2024 05:19

For me personally, I see Frank as a full name not a nn so no need for a longer name on the BC just for the sake of it

BluebellsareBlue · 08/09/2024 23:34

None! Frank if I'm pushed. Sounds like a name I'd call a bulldog though

Daisybuttercup12345 · 08/09/2024 23:08

Frank
Francis rather than Franklin.

@Hailemomentus28

not so keen on Cass as a full name or not even to be called Cass.

Cassius it's fine to insist on that in legal documents, but he's going to called Cass from his birth. Insisting on Cassius would be like shovelling snow while it's still snowing.

Personally I'd only use Cassius if my child was black (sorry, hope that's not offended anyone). Im Older than you & Frank is an older parents name, Franklin (to me) is American

HeyPrestoAlakazam · 08/09/2024 22:50

At a push...Cassius.

But Cassian, Caspian and Francis are much nicer.

Pipsquiggle · 08/09/2024 22:48

All very different.
If you don't like Cass, don't choose Cassius.
Which one goes best with surname?

So many Franks and Frankie's around at the moment

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 08/09/2024 22:43

Of the 3 choices I like Cassius best (although I like the sound of similar Cassian or Caspian even more) but I do think some people shortening it to Cass is inevitable once he’s older.

Frank I still think of as an elderly man’s name and Franklin sounds very US to me (I think lots of kids are named after the President or Ben Franklin) but I guess the Explorer is also a cool namesake.

TheCultureHusks · 08/09/2024 22:07

Frank if you must.

I don’t like it, it’s just not a nice sound really. Hate that it also gets shortened to Fran more often than you’d think. Dislike Francis even more. Franklin is - odd?

Cassius is one of those names that look really good but somehow doesn’t work very well in real life. Cass isn’t a great short form.

Mumofgirls2017 · 08/09/2024 22:04

Both great but prefer Cassius ❤️

Mandarinaduck · 08/09/2024 18:24

Just Frank. Great name!

KirstenBlest · 08/09/2024 18:02

Frank. Franklin is awful.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/09/2024 17:29

Rule number 1 with names. If you don’t like what it can be shortened to then don’t use it, therefore bin Cassius.

Franklin may want to be a Frank in any case so you might as well just use Frank.

I completely agree with you - Frank is lovely on its on, no need for the “lin” part. And I’m not keen on Cass either - sounds too feminine, and kids do tend to shorten names in secondary school.

Ted22 · 08/09/2024 12:44

In the US lots of people pronounce Cassius Cash-us, so that would put me off.

Frank is cute. I would do Francis nn Frank.

muddyford · 08/09/2024 12:42

Francis

NuffSaidSam · 08/09/2024 12:41

Don't use Cassius if you don't like Cass.

Franklin on the BC and Frank/Frankie day to day seems a fair compromise.

Personally, I prefer Cassius. Or even better Caspian.
