7 months pregnant wirh baby girl. my partner and i have named our baby girl Emmy, thinking her full name will be Clementine.

ive had feedback from others though that clementine is just a tad too unique (i dont mind feedback!). Wondering if anyone can think of another full name for Emmy that isnt Emily, Emma, Emmerson or Emmeline?

fhanks!

Only it looks like a bad spelling of Emmeline.

outdamnedspots · 05/09/2024 17:44

I was going to say Emmaline. So pretty.

Commonsense22 · 05/09/2024 17:39

Clementine is lovely, and just Emmy is lovely too.

Meadowwild · 05/09/2024 14:47

Esmeralda
Emilia
Emmaline

But also, any name that begins with M. I have friends called essie and effie whose first names begin with S and F.

Matilda
Marina
Margot
etc.

Emberlyn

Emmanuel is a boy's name.
Emmanuelle is a girl's name.

JimberlyMcJimbleFace · 05/09/2024 14:07

Emmberly

Clementine is fabulous!

I know an Emmie and she's actually Emerald!

If she's Clementine the nickname will end up being Clemmie. Go with it if you're ok with that

I don't think that's necessarily true. Friends will call her whatever she tells them her name is. If she goes by Clementine they'll call her Clem or Clemmie, no doubt. But if she always uses Emmy that's what people will call her.

I can think of lots of examples of people I know whose nicknames aren't necessarily the most obvious one for their full name.

Clemency
Clemence
Gemma
Temora
but Emma is the best.

If she's going to be known as Emmy why bother worrying about Clementine and just call her Emmy.
DC1 25 has a friend called Emmie, it's served her pretty well so far.

Agree. We have an Emmie. Its a beautiful name on its own.

DietQueen2023 · 04/09/2024 22:20

Emiliana - knew someone with this name she shortened it to Emi, such a beautiful name 😍

LostittoBostik · 04/09/2024 22:12

If she's Clementine the nickname will end up being Clemmie. Go with it if you're ok with that

Footle · 04/09/2024 22:10

If it's any help, my grandmother was named Emmy when she was born 120 years ago. It was ok then and it's ok now.

Incakewetrust · 04/09/2024 18:04

Emmeline
Emma
Emily
Emilia
Emelda

OP very best wishes, and this is absolutely not directed at you personally, but 'unique' means 'the only single one in the entire universe' NOT 'a little bit unusual in our locality'.
As others have said, Clementine is quite popular; top 200 in the last year for which govt. figures have been released. (If you'd like to check - here's the best website: https://names.darkgreener.com/ ) So what about 'official' name Emma or Emerald, and the short form of your choosing. Both nice names; Emma goes back for over 1000 years.

Emery/Emory?

Liv999 · 04/09/2024 16:24

Just call her Emmy, if you call her Clementine people will call her Clemmie

Firebird83 · 04/09/2024 15:55

Clementine or Emerald

congolongalee · 04/09/2024 13:21

I'd just use the name Emmy! It's lovely on its own. I'm mid thirties and have a friend called Emmy and my DD5 has a girl in her class called Emmie so definitely a name in its own right.

LuckySantangelo35 · 04/09/2024 13:16

Emily or Emma. Obviously.

not everyone willl extrapolate Emmy from clementine

I know a little Emme, pronounced Emmy. I'd go with that

Spidey66 · 04/09/2024 12:57

I think Clementine is a gorgeous name, but will get shortened to Clemmie. Emilia is a lovely name. One of my nieces is called Emilia, though she's known as Emilia!

SlothIsma · 04/09/2024 12:54

Use Clementine, it's lovely. I don't think having too many food reference names is an issue at all, you might be overthinking it

PoliteOtter · 04/09/2024 12:52

I like Clementine but Emmy feels like a forced shortening of it. Clemmie is nice. My Gran had a friend called Emmy, no idea what it was short for but given her age it was probably Emmeline, it was also spelt Emme.
