Prefer Rosalyn / Rosalind

Gulbekian · 29/08/2024 21:03

Beautiful name!

Gorgonemilezola · 29/08/2024 21:00

Absolutely beautiful name.

Summerperfume · 29/08/2024 20:52

Nope, it’s a really ugly name

Yellowgoldsunshine · 29/08/2024 20:31

It's a beautiful name. So unique yet classy with lots of nickname options. It has quite a fairy tale vibe to it. Go for it!

AthenaBasil · 29/08/2024 20:23

I’m another who isn’t keen on the mund ending. I like most other Rose names but this one I like the least.

redtrain123 · 29/08/2024 20:19

Lovely and classic.

nameXname · 29/08/2024 20:13

'Rose of the world' is a later (Latin-based) meaning - not the original one. It's based on words that just happen to sound similar but are from different languages.
The original, early Germanic name Rosamund is based on words meaning 'horse' and 'protection'.
Rosalind is similarly based on early Germanic words meaning 'horse' and 'tender'.

But I really like both names, whatever their origin.

Meadowwild · 29/08/2024 16:48

I like it but prefer the spelling Rosamond as 'mund' is a bit ugly.

I absolutely love Rosa as a nn and Rose or Rosie are cute too.

Notellinganyone · 29/08/2024 16:46

Absolutely love it.

Hannahspeltbackwards · 29/08/2024 16:41

I don't like it but love Rosalind.

Andoutcomethewolves · 29/08/2024 16:40

I like it, probably because I have the loveliest, kindest, most beautiful friend called this! She also goes by Rosie. She's teeny and quite hippyish (like some kind of flower fairy 🤣) and both long and short versions of the name suit her to a tee 😊

MistyF · 29/08/2024 16:21

I love it, but only like Rosa as possible nickname

Underlig · 29/08/2024 13:47

I like it.

Olika · 29/08/2024 13:44

I don't like the mund ending.

Brumchum · 29/08/2024 13:43

Beautiful name. I know a lovely two year old Rosamund.

shoopshoopdedoo · 29/08/2024 12:26

Love Rose and Rosie but I’m not keen on Rosamund. It feels a little drab to me, and I don’t like the nickname Roz. I like Rosemary as a longer “Rose” name.

user1471455335 · 29/08/2024 09:12

I have a beautiful friend with this name. Go for it!

Firebird83 · 29/08/2024 09:07

There’s also the Rosamond spelling if people don’t like the mund bit. I do prefer Rosamund though.

Firebird83 · 29/08/2024 09:06

I love it! Beautiful name. I know a Rosamund in her late 20s.

BCBird · 29/08/2024 08:43

Prefer Rosalind

Beth216 · 29/08/2024 08:37

Rosa is lovely, the mund bit is horrid.

Moreteaandchocolate · 29/08/2024 08:32

Probably my least favourite Rose-based name, sorry. I like Rosemary, Rosalie, Rosalyn, Rosalind, Rosa, Rosie etc.. , and just Rose. As others said, the mund bit isn’t as pretty, and sounds dated.

LeedsZebra90 · 29/08/2024 08:25

I like it, as others above i prefer rosalind, but both lovely and lots of options with it. I know a little Rosalyn which I also like.

CheekySwan · 29/08/2024 08:21

Not keen on the mund bit at the end

I have a DGD called Rosanna, but she now gets Rosie
