Baby due in 10 weeks and still not sure what name we're going to go with. We have four favourites, though atm I don't feel very certain on any of them:

  • Wilfred: Would shorten to Wilf a lot, which I think is cute, though worry it's a bit posh sounding.
  • Oisin - (with a fada but I can't do it on my laptop!) - Partner is Irish. Do like the name, but just not 100% on it and child will grow up in England with English accent etc.
  • Sylvester - A new name to the table. I actually do really like this, but worry it's a mouthful and no decent nicknames. Cat association is purely positive for me, don't mind Stallone association that much either.
  • Kester - Like it, but a bit unusual and do not want baby to be called Kes by anyone.

We're tending towards the more unusual but mostly I think because by now one of us has veto'd most of the more common names - my taste is probably a bit hipster (Magnus, Casper, Reuben, Felix etc.) whereas his taste ranges from old man (Frank, Larry) to very unusual (Seneca). Other suggestions welcome, as well as opinions on the above names.

Oisin is the best from your list, Francis is a lovely middle name
I don't mind Frank as a first name because of the legend that is Frank Black
but maybe you could persuade DH into Francis Oisin and he can call him Frank, you can call him Francis.

If DH likes Seneca, would he consider Atticus?

I've suggested this but he said no! Too strongly associated with the one character for him apparently. Despite Seneca being so strongly associated with Seneca.

Frank I am just not a big fan, and he doesn't like Francis.

Not Kester if you dont like Kes. How about Orson?

I like all of your names except Kester, which rhymes with fester, moreso than Sylvester imo.

Frank is a great name though. It could be short for Francis or Franklin.
