Here are the contenders.

  • Abraham
  • Elijah

  • Michael
  • Moses
  • Nicodemus
  • Rufus
  • Seth
  • Zachariah
  • Eli
  • Micah

It has to be a bible name.

What do you think?

Elijah
Seth
Zachariah
Micah
Michael

These are my faves, I like Micah and Zac (for short) best.

minster · 23/04/2008 20:58

Rufus, Elijah, Seth, Elias.

What about Gabriel?

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 23/04/2008 15:41

I love Elijah myself, sadly DH didn't

branflake81 · 23/04/2008 15:40
  • Abraham - OK if you're Jewish
  • Elijah - too trendy
  • Josiah - ditto
  • Michael - Quite like this, nice and simple
  • Moses - No, child will be laughed at
  • Nicodemus - ditto
  • Rufus - Dog's name
  • Seth - Bit californian
  • Zachariah - Zachary ok, this a bit too weird
  • Eli - hmmm...ok
  • Micah - No
MadameCh0let · 23/04/2008 11:35

I like Rufus and Seth. What about Saul? That is unusual but not too "wtf?" at the same time.

artichokes · 23/04/2008 11:07

Rufus
Seth
Eli (short for Elias)

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/04/2008 07:56

Abraham, Elijah or Zachariah.

Janni · 23/04/2008 00:18

Scaryteacher - I like your son's name and am surprised it's not more common. I'd only heard it in an American context.

Janni · 23/04/2008 00:15

I like Jacob.

Your mum and dad sound fairly typical!

JessJess3908 · 23/04/2008 00:08

I am thinking of Jacob for our DC1 due in September. His 2 nearest cousins are Seth and Eli, so my mum and dad keep telling me they'll sound like the 3 wise men.

Seth is a fabulous name - my sister got in there first and now I am feeling the pressure to come up with an equally lovely but not too popular name.

1dilemma · 19/04/2008 23:30

Matthew (gift of God)
what about Benjamin wasn't he the youngest and unexpected son?

msappropriate · 19/04/2008 23:14

I like Seth the best. My dh vetoed it saying is sounded like cess (as it cess pit). Heathen

surprise · 19/04/2008 23:11

Rufus or Michael. Why does it have to be biblical?

BubbaAndBump · 17/04/2008 07:26

We had Seth at the top of our boy's list for months (but had a baby girl in the end anyway).

MrsMattie · 17/04/2008 07:23

I like Elijah, but I'm biased

mymblemummy · 17/04/2008 03:15

Seth or Zach, both lovely.

My favourites are Seth and Josiah (Jos). I quite like Elijah too.

How about Jed (Jedediah)?

DS1 is Christian which is as about as Christian as it gets iyswim but it is a bit obvious I suppose!

Since you seem to be going a bit old testament with most of them(apologies if my knowledge of the bible is a bit shaky) how about Adam, which is DS2's middle name?

purpleduck · 17/04/2008 01:44

and Josiah

purpleduck · 17/04/2008 01:43

Love
Elijah Seth Issac (i know, not on list)

scaryteacher · 17/04/2008 01:33

My ds is a Joel, it can't be shortened and is quite funky.

gagarin · 16/04/2008 22:46

Abraham! Then he can be "baby Abie"...

Actually I prefer the hebrew versions of Abraham - Avraham or Avram...

shreddies · 16/04/2008 22:46

Seth is lovely.

Woollymummy · 16/04/2008 22:42

Seth! Definitely, he is a very cool folk musician at the moment, hot stuff playing the fiddle. Definitely a good name.

3andnomore · 16/04/2008 22:38

oh, now I love the name Mathias...but then my nephew is called it and it is the german way of Mathew....
