Who knew it would be so hard to find a name to fit with our daughters: Edith Isla! We quite like older/slightly unique names but any help would be appreciated please!

For girls so far we have: Aubrey, Alba, Wren, Esme, Freya, Nell, Elodie.

For boys: Axel, Otto, Albie, Atticus, Barnaby

Out of your names my favourites are Nell and Barnaby. Elodie is gorgeous but I’m not sure that it works with Edith.

I really like Audrey and Edwin.

How about Alma? Similar sound to Alba but more in keeping with Edith and not as common.
I know a little one and it’s a beautiful name that suits her so well.
Other suggestion would be Olive

How about Nola or Vera for a girl's name?

Vera actually works well with Edith.

The little siblings I know are Edith and Olive, which I think sound lovely together.

pinkflamingo83 · 24/08/2024 15:10

I like another 2-syllable name with a 3rd (but different vowel):

So Orla, Olive or Oscar
Ava, Annie, Alba, Alice, Audrey or Archie, Arthur

H is a vowel in French, so also Hannah, Hazel, Hattie or Hugo, Henry, Harry.

I think I am better at girl names. Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well.

My Nan was Edith - her sisters were Audrey, Lily and Evelyn and her brother Jack and Edward

From my own kids names we used with family names where Emma and Grace

Verity?

Sorrelia · 24/08/2024 05:30

I love the suggestion of Beatrix and Ada (shame.its your dog!)
Edith is such a beautiful and distinct name I would go to the effort of being historically accurate and pick another name of the same era (Titanic passenger list and minor characters of Downton).
Eliza and Lucille (or Lucy) would be nice, Margaret as well.

I think Henry or Albert goes quite well with Edith. ( I like Bertie for short !)

Other very “ legit” names from that era are Vera, Vida or Vita, Lavinia and Rose.

I agree. I like those names with Edith.

edited to add: I’m sooo sorry oP! I just agreed with my own post. 🙈 Ignore! 🤣
