Sofia’s middle name

AnaMRT · 11/08/2024 17:30

So we have finally settled on the name Sofia for our daughter. I was wondering if I can get some help with her middle name please? We already have: Olivia Georgiana, Arthur Thomas, George Edward and Claudia Marie. This is just to give an idea of what we usually like and what type of names our children end up with. For Sofia we like Sofia Elizabeth Rose but I’m having second thoughts. Here are some combinations that I also like. I would appreciate any feedback. If anyone has any better suggestions please share as we are registering her name tomorrow.

Sofia Isabella Rose
Sofia Florence
Sofia Lily Anne
Sofia Francesca Mae
Sofia Charlotte Mae
Sofia Louisa Mae
Sofia Emily Kate
Sofia Felicity Rose
Sofia Abigail Rose
Sofia Elena Kate
Sofia Catherine Mae

As a pp said, nothing ending in an 'a'.

I think Clare would be nice.

I'd keep it short in any case with Sofia having 3 syllables.

WrongSortOfPoster · 13/08/2024 10:46

@JaninaDuszejko , It's widespread and not only in certain parts of England or even certain parts of the UK.

JaninaDuszejko · 13/08/2024 10:41

I'd probably spell it Sophia myself.

And lots of people would spell it with an f because of their heritage or family traditions. It's probably the more common spelling worldwide.

Personally I'd try to avoid the glottal stop between "sofia" and any middle name beginning with a vowel (that kind of "ugh" sounds you need to enunciate between the two vowels).

I don't do that in my accent, it's specific to certain parts of England.

Sofia is lovely.
I would use one middle name.

Sofia Catherine is my fave
Sofia Elizabeth is my second choice.

Others ..
Sofia Genevieve
Sofia Bridget
Sofia Margaret
Sofia Dorothy
Sofia Alice

sel2223 · 13/08/2024 10:07

I too prefer one middle name.

I love Sofia Lilly the most.

I've got a thing about number of syllables and don't know your last name of course but with a 3 syllable first name like Sofia, I'd go for a 2 syllable middle name. It just flows better.

Sofia Florence
Sofia Charlotte

Both lovely too

bloodyeffinnora · 12/08/2024 22:15

I like sofia kate too

WrongSortOfPoster · 12/08/2024 21:29

I'd avoid a name starting with a vowel e.g. Isla because it gets said Sofiuh Rile-uh

Really like Sofia Kate :)

Love Sophia Elizabeth.

I’d also stick with one middle name, personally. I couldn’t deal with one name being an odd one out - I like everything to be consistent 😂 Appreciate this might be weird - although your other children might feel put out too?!

Sometimeswinning · 11/08/2024 23:15

I’m a fan of the middle name being after someone and having meaning. I went with a ggm and gps names. All 3 of mine carry a family name and I hope it continues.

MarshmallowsOnToast · 11/08/2024 23:01

All 4 of your other children only have one middle name. I'd definitely stick with just one again!

Mumofgirls2017 · 11/08/2024 22:56

Sofia Eleanor maeve
sofia Isabelle june
sofia Harriet pearl
sofia ottilie joy
sofia Penelope jade

Sofia Florence was my mother's name, she was a beautiful elegant lady and the best mother that ever could be. She had 4 children from the ages of 1
16-20 myself and twin brother being the eldest and I feel like she grew up with us. Unfortunately I only had boys and would have loved to have named a girl after her! Sofia Florence all the way x

Theoldwoman · 11/08/2024 22:33

Sofia Charlotte

Heavenlyhoumous · 11/08/2024 19:43

Sofia Felicity

happyhemsby · 11/08/2024 18:48

Sofia Valentina
Sofia Giselle
Sofia Vivienne
Sofia Evangeline

BiggieLittle · 11/08/2024 18:47

I’d go with something a bit more unusual/braver in the middle spot (perhaps a name you don’t feel brave enough to use in the first spot?) as Sofia is a pretty popular name.
definitely wouldn’t use Rose or May as they are so common as middle names!

how about:
Sofia Blythe
Sofia Aurelia
Sofia Felicity
Sofia June/Juniper
Sofia Primrose

MrsT36 · 11/08/2024 18:46

Sofia Elizabeth Rose is beautiful!
Agree that Lily and Mae are everywhere at the minute.
Sofia Florence is also lovely

Sophia Savannah?

I like the rose or mae with all of them, but having two middle names used to drive my brother insane.

I think because she’s our last I’m trying to squeeze more names in there!

I like Sofia Florence from your list

Sofia Elise

Loved Florence as a first name too but DH didn’t like it because of the shortenings.

There's a Sophia Grace in my family and I think it's lovely

That’s lovely but DH vetoed it!

Sofia Isabella Rose
Sofia Florence
Sofia Lily Anne
Sofia Francesca Mae
Sofia Charlotte Mae
Sofia Louisa Mae
Sofia Emily Kate
Sofia Felicity Rose
Sofia Abigail Rose
Sofia Elena Kate
Sofia Catherine Mae

For my personal taste I would scrap the Mae/ Rose as it's overdone.

I love Sofia but I think doesn't sound right with another 'a' ending name so that scraps Isabella, Francesca Louisa, Elena.

I really like Sofia Elizabeth.

Also like Sofia Florence and Sofia Catherine. To me, these 3 sound very classic and feminine.

I'd probably spell it Sophia myself.
