Nathaniel vs Cooper

Beepeony · 08/08/2024 09:32

DH and I can’t decide between Cooper and Nathaniel (Nate). Baby due in several weeks.

My only concern it that Cooper is a bit chavvy? compared to Nathaniel. We already have a Miles.

I really like
Henry
Edward
Joseph
But DH vetoed all of these!

All opinions welcome!

Miles and Nathanial sound perfect together

Keep Cooper for your dogs name

BetteLaSwet · 11/08/2024 16:51

I know a dog called Cooper too. And I think it was the dog’s name in What Lies Beneath.

eemiu · 09/08/2024 17:29

sorry to pile on but round my way Cooper is a dog's name. A very popular one too!

Mammyloveswine · 09/08/2024 17:25

Nathanial definitely! And goes better with brothers name.

Cooper is a dogs name.

Surelyitscoffeetime · 09/08/2024 13:35

I taught a boy called Cooper. Poor thing was known as Pooper Cooper.

SingingSands · 09/08/2024 12:43

Cooper is a dog's name. I know several doggy Coopers! I wouldn't use it on a little boy.

Nathaniel has always struck me as whiny and wet. Much prefer Nathan which seems stronger and a bit cooler.

sanogo · 09/08/2024 12:34

Cooper is a surname

Butwhybecause · 09/08/2024 12:14

Not Cooper.
The surname Cooper means barrel maker.

Nathaniel is fine and has options he can choose as he gets older.

EoinMahoney · 09/08/2024 12:11

It's a positive association. Rhyming with Fart isn't.

sanityisamyth · 09/08/2024 10:48

EoinMahoney · 09/08/2024 00:06

Cooper rhymes with Super-Duper, which is a plus.
Nathaniel Winkle doesn't quite have the same ring.

And Bart rhymes with fart? So what?!

bloodyeffinnora · 08/08/2024 23:48

Definitely Nathaniel

Normallynumb · 08/08/2024 23:30

Nathaniel sounds great with Miles

sommerjade · 08/08/2024 23:16

Cooper - yes it is. Don’t do it.

Nathaniel is great.

Mischance · 08/08/2024 22:09

Cooper is a horrid name.

LightFull · 08/08/2024 22:09

Cooper

Nickname = Pooper Scooper

StampOnTheGround · 08/08/2024 22:07

I love Nate, really don't like Cooper.

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 08/08/2024 21:55

Nathaniel.
Cooper is so nothingy. As a name, it's so bland. I love -iel names. Prefer Gabriel, Daniel and Ariel to Nathaniel although maybe not Ariel for an actual child. Persil ditto.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 08/08/2024 21:46

Nathaniel, no contest. I don’t find Cooper chavvy (its probably not popular enough to determine that for that for a start and the young one I know personally is solidly middle class, professional parents etc) BUT it is trendy. We just don’t know how well the current “surname as first name” trend will date. Whereas like Miles, Nathaniel is relatively timeless - a name with long history that’s only occasionally had popularity rises.

Spidey66 · 08/08/2024 21:45

Nathaniel 100%.

I don't like all these Coopers, Fletchers, Archers etc.

comoatoupeira · 08/08/2024 21:37

Are you American?

RuthW · 08/08/2024 21:33
