What's your favorite nickname for Elizabeth?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I am close to an Elizabeth who is known as:
Elizabeth
Liz
Lizzie
Betts
Betsy
Lilibet

It's a great name for options

peaceinourtime · 04/08/2024 15:19

Ellie

PostMenPatWithACat · 04/08/2024 15:24

Her friends will chose it in due course.

StormingNorman · 04/08/2024 15:27

Lily. Although Buffy is cute too.

MonaChopsis · 04/08/2024 15:29

The Elisabeth's I know are mainly called Liz or Lizzie.

Only exception is called Biffy, apparently because she used to pronounce her name 'Liss-Bif'.

CurlewKate · 04/08/2024 15:29

Liz

Pigeon123456 · 04/08/2024 18:25

My DD is Eliza, Lizzie and Lizziebeth. Although one of the reasons for choosing the name was that I love all the possible shortenings and she can choose how she wants to be called when she's older.

hellodolly1 · 04/08/2024 18:33

Lizze
Beth

LoneHydrangea · 04/08/2024 18:36

My aunt is Elizabeth, known as Lizzie. I have 2 friends that are Elizabeth, one is Liz, one Eliza.

I love all of those shortenings but really loathe Libby or Beth.

Firebird83 · 04/08/2024 19:08

Mine is a Betsy

Cattery · 04/08/2024 19:14

I’m Elizabeth and called Liz or Lizzie

Carelesswispalover · 04/08/2024 19:21

Lyla
It's my aunt Elizabeth's nickname and I love it!
Have seen it spelled Lilah and Lila too

moonshinepoursthroughmywindow · 07/08/2024 18:30

Lizzie for a little girl, Liz for a teenager or adult. Some people suit Beth, but it could be confusing as Beth is sometimes given as a name in its own right, so you'd have to watch out that people knew her full name for anything official.

MonaChopsis a friend's DD used to call herself Bibbuf - my DS called her Nissi-nush! (TBF they were both 2 at the time.)

Wowwellokthen · 07/08/2024 18:33

I'm a Lizzie

I also know a Lilly and a Betty who are Elizabeths

Thewildthingsarewithme · 07/08/2024 18:50

Bessie 😍

Holidayhell22 · 07/08/2024 18:56

Lilibet and Lily are my favourites. Betty is cue too.
I don’t see Beth as short for Elizabeth, more short for Bethany or Bethan.
The Libbys I know are all just Libby. Not short for anything.

Tess

PruneInTheNest · 07/08/2024 19:01

Libby or Betty

Not keen at all on Liz, just makes me think of a 50 year old woman (not that there is anything wrong with that of course- just it’s synonymous of a certain generation for me, like Sharon, Jane, Karen etc)

XelaM · 07/08/2024 19:04

My daughter prefers Lizzie but my ex-husband's family call her Ellie

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 02/08/2024 08:27

Either Ellie Beth Zab. Betsy.

Zab is rather fab. I also like Libby - and Lizbie which used to be popular in the 19C but unusual now.

theduchessofspork · 07/08/2024 19:21

Also quite fond of Buffy..

StellaCruella · 07/08/2024 19:26

Betsy

lemarr · 11/08/2024 11:36

Bessy, Betty or Beth

Thiswayforward · 13/08/2024 00:15

Beth or Eliza

aliasname · 13/08/2024 00:24

Betsy, Elsie or Elsbeth.

also, Friends alert, Mikes mum was called ‘Bitsy’ which does sound more like a toy poodle than a grown woman.
