  1. Thoughts on both names?
  2. Which one do you prefer more?

I love both
Not keen on shortened Clementine. My bf Colette hates Col
Just throwing it out there… these names put me in mind of Chemmy (Alcott) full name - Chimene Mary

I don’t care for either for different reasons. Clementine is a bit frilly, and Colette feels very dated to me.

hazandduck · 08/07/2024 22:52

They are both lovely. I especially love Clementine. DD was almost named that with the nickname Cleo, but we didn’t like Clemmy as a potential nickname so we just went for Cleo as a full name! Also like a previous suggestion of Claudia.

Colette. Love it. Clementine to me will always be Mark Owen but I realise im old.

ComoSeDicePepinoEnIngles · 08/07/2024 22:49

Don't like either, sorry.
Clementine is too long it needs a shorter form but "clem' is awful.

Claudia is nicer imo or Clio

Colette is a short form already. Nicole. I prefer the sound Colette to the sound Clementine.

I prefer Clementine. I feel Colette is dated, but that could just be because of the girls/women I know with those names.

StormingNorman · 08/07/2024 22:47

Clementine is lovely (teen in my head)

Colette - not so keen.

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 08/07/2024 22:46

Colette is a lovely name, so pretty and classy.

Sundaysunshine21 · 08/07/2024 22:44

Clementine. I love this and considered it for my dd but someone close to me used it. It is a bit marmite though, someone I work with also had it and a lot of people in the office really hated it. I was also a bit put off by the ‘teen’ or ‘Tyne’ issue.

I’m not keen on Colette but can’t put my finger on why. Nothing wrong with it though, just personal taste. It’s more unusual than Clementine and I can’t see there being any pronunciation issues.

I thought this was going to be names for twins! Both great!
