Do you know many Ninas?

This is our top contender name for DD. Well known name, internationally used and uncomplicated pronunciation. I can imagine it suiting a child and an adult.

I was wondering how common it is where you are in babies/toddlers atm?

Family member is Nina, it's actually shortened from her full name which I won't put here as too outing but the full name is lovely too x

moonshinepoursthroughmywindow · 15/07/2024 17:54

I know one Nina, who is probably about 50, very nice and very creative. However I don't think it would sound out of place on a little girl. It's never been common enough to be tied to a particular generation.

Brabugheaid · 14/07/2024 23:15

I know one Nina aged 55. Her parents are Polish.

Hannahspeltbackwards · 14/07/2024 15:39

I don't think I've ever met one.

Beautiful name.

FangsForTheMemory · 13/07/2024 22:30

I worked with one who'll be about 50 now, and the daughter of an acquaintance was called Nina, she'll be about 30 I think. Lovely name!

blink3times · 13/07/2024 21:37

I know two but both 10/11 years

Tophelleborine · 13/07/2024 21:35

I read that as ninjas 😂

janeclipse · 13/07/2024 21:34

No babies in recent years

janeclipse · 13/07/2024 21:33

I know a few late 40s, so for me it feels dated.

BlueSkyMoth · 13/07/2024 21:29

Oh actually, there's another one at work too - aged 45 - 50.

BlueSkyMoth · 13/07/2024 21:28

I know one, age 6 or 7. Lovely name.

katebushh · 10/07/2024 11:45

I love the name but the only one I actually know is a horrible cow who slept with my ex and all his mates whilst pretending to be my and all the girls best friends. (Yes I have issues with her lol)

VladimirVsVolodymyr · 10/07/2024 11:19

@Marmite27 Lena seems to be quite a popular name as well. I've just realised I know at least 3 adult Lena's as well. I've asked Mumsnet to delete my post as you rightly pointed out, it is very outing especially if I were to name the country I'm in.

jackstini · 10/07/2024 07:28

Really like it

I don't know any now, but remember a girl aged 8 from Germany who I met on holiday in 1982 and she was lovely!

Izzynohopanda · 10/07/2024 07:18

Two in their fifties. Not come across any young ones.

AstonMartha · 10/07/2024 07:17

I know three. One is in her 40s, one is about 10 and the other is 6.

It’s gorgeous and very underused.

MorvernBlack · 10/07/2024 07:15

Just one, she's in her 70s and Irish, but she's actually a Susanna, I'm not sure if that's a common diminutive of Susanna.

VladimirVsVolodymyr · 10/07/2024 00:57

@Marmite27 nope we're not nowhere near West Yorkshire, we're not in the UK.

There’s more than one set at that age with that heritage then! Which I find unlikely TBH.

VladimirVsVolodymyr · 10/07/2024 00:57

Skybluepinky · 08/07/2024 20:22

I know a 78 year old, a 1 and 3 year old, lovely name, definitely suits adults and children.

timoteigirl · 08/07/2024 20:19

I know quite a few, all on their late 40s and early to mid 50s. Don't know anybody younger than that called Nina.

NewName24 · 08/07/2024 17:08

I rather like it.

I only know 1 in her 80s and one in her 40s.

I work with a database for U5s and I haven't come across any Ninas on it.

SatinHeart · 08/07/2024 16:12

I know one in her 30s. It was on our girls names shortlist!

This is quite outing, I know the twins you’re talking about! (Unless there’s more than one set with these names and ages).

We’re in West Yorkshire.
