Absolutely love Romilly (definitely this spelling) and love Emil.

BobbyBiscuits · 05/07/2024 18:33

I like Frederick (Fred), Magnus and Romilly (Milly/Romy)

Not mad on the others sadly. They're OK though.

I also like Azelie, Ramona, Rowan, Lark, Max, Alexis, Alexander, Samuel, Ivan and Leni (or Lennie for a boy)...(Not sure if those are similar ball park or not, lol?)

PardonSmardon · 05/07/2024 18:29

Romilly and Magnus

Jessieshome · 05/07/2024 18:25

Matilda - nice, fairly well used, I don't like Matty for short though, which I'd worry about

Cordelia - eww, yuk, very old fashioned, Uber posh

Cecily - Nope, similar to Cordelia, Cecilia is a lot nicer

Romilly - still 'old/vintage posh' but I've always had a soft spot for this name ☺️

Magnus - Naff
Clarence - The angel from It's a Wonderful Life "Attaboy, Clarence!" Very old fashioned, rather posh

Emil - ewww
Frederick - I like Fred
Gustav - weird unless you have Scandinavian connections.

If you're going for circa 1920's posh, I think you've nailed it, but they are not my cup of tea.

Good luck!

Goddessonahighway · 05/07/2024 16:23

Like the options for nicknames with Cordelia.

Greeneyegirl · 05/07/2024 16:20

Matilda is over used
I like Cecily
I love Romilly, it was on our name list but I've only seen it spelt Romily

Sleepnplay · 05/07/2024 15:47

I love Matilda and like Romilly. Not keen on the boy list tbh, Magnus probably the best of the bunch for me.

EndlessSummer · 05/07/2024 15:08

I dont like any of the names sorry, especially the boys’ names. Matilda is ok.

AngelDelightButNotStrawberry · 05/07/2024 15:04

Matilda is over done, over used I don’t like Tilly. Cordelia is the best out of those.

I don’t really like any of the boys’ names.

Nicebloomers · 05/07/2024 14:46

Loving

Cecily & Romily

Magnus & Frederick

Love Gus but for August/ Augustus rather than Gustav.

TempsPerdu · 05/07/2024 13:58

Probably against the grain, but I much prefer your boys’ list to the girls’. Not keen on any of those, although would probably go for Cordelia if I had to pick one.

I think your boys’ list is great - probably because it feels quite ‘European’/cosmopolitan in style and those are the kinds of names I tend to like. Love Magnus and Emil, and Gustav could grow on me (bit more of a statement name than the others I think).

Not a fan of Clarence, but I do quite like Clement, which to me has a similar feel. Frederick is OK but obviously not as distinctive as the others.

KirstenBlest · 05/07/2024 13:00

Matilda - ok but will be Tilly or Tilda, neither of which I like. Too popular for my taste.
Cordelia - ok but a bit long. Delia is nice.
Cecily - ok but a bit too Cecil-y. Don't like Cess or Cece.
Romilly - nice surname but not as a first name

Magnus - like
Clarence - don't like
Emil - like but Emily & Emilia too popular. Is it Em-ill or Em-eel?
Frederick - fine
Gustav - like

CosFuckThatGuy · 05/07/2024 07:59

None of them for me sorry; they're all a lot I think.

We obviously have v different tastes though so my opinion shouldn't matter to you.

Frederick, Cecily, Matilda. All pretty big standard and hardly out there. Freddy is massively popular.

Firsttimebabymummy · 05/07/2024 09:42

We must have different taste as I only like Frederick ..

SatinHeart · 05/07/2024 09:12

Matilda is the best of the girls names but it's very popular at the moment. They are all a bit frilly for my taste.

Frederick is probably the best of the boys names but again Freddie is pretty popular. Just personal preference though - we don't seem to share the same taste in names generally.

deeahgwitch · 05/07/2024 08:50

I like Romilly but I don't like any of the boys names.

TM1979 · 05/07/2024 08:41

I like Matilda and Cordelia. The rest are hideous.

Namechanger385u4p · 05/07/2024 08:39

Cordelia and Magnus. I LOVE Cordelia

EnjoythemoneyJane · 05/07/2024 08:38

Which ones do you like best OP? Nobody else’s opinion matters, but since you asked …

Cecily & Romilly are beautiful. Matilda’s nice; Cordelia less so.

I find the boys names unappealing, especially Clarence. It’s a very Germanic selection - I know a lovely Emil but his parents are Dutch, which makes more sense to me somehow (though I know that’s illogical!). But if you’re ultimately intending to shorten them anyway (Freddie, Gus), why not just use the shortened version?

CoastalSunsets · 05/07/2024 08:22

Matilda is ok. I don't like any of the others.

RabbitsRock · 05/07/2024 08:05

I can’t decide about Cecily but really like Romilly as it’s unusual. I don’t like any of the boys names unfortunately

DinnaeFashYersel · 05/07/2024 08:02

I like Cecily. The rest not at all

ToffeenutLatte · 05/07/2024 08:01

Love Cecily and Romilly.
Frederick is the best of the boys names, assuming it would be shortened to Freddie the majority of the time.

CosFuckThatGuy · 05/07/2024 07:59

None of them for me sorry; they're all a lot I think.

We obviously have v different tastes though so my opinion shouldn't matter to you.

GetThatBloodyFaceOff · 05/07/2024 07:52

I don't like any of them
