Longer name for Lovey

We LOVE the name Lovey for a little girl, but obviously for more professional circumstances/later life it wouldn't be appropriate. Any ideas for what Lovey could be a nickname for?

Lovisa
Lovina
Lovelia

Notthecarwashagain · 01/07/2024 16:06

That’s what Kris Jenner’s grandchildren call her.
I don’t know how I know this- all my Kardashian knowledge is against my will!

Smartiepants79 · 01/07/2024 16:03

The only real name I can come up with is Loveday.
Lovisa is a jewellery brand.
I really would just pick a name you like and then call her lovey as her nickname.

Deadringer · 01/07/2024 16:02

Strangelove

Waterboatlass · 01/07/2024 16:02

Loveday, Lowenna, Lovisa,

YorkshireSunshine · 01/07/2024 16:02

I know a couple of baby girls called Lovella

EveningSpread · 01/07/2024 16:01

Lovey is what someone from up north (like me) would call a random person as a term of endearment.

"Y'alright loveh?"

Or it could be a bad porn star's fake name. Just don't.

housethatbuiltme · 01/07/2024 15:59

Olivia... as a nickname Lovey isn't far of Livvie and the name has an 'o'.

Lavinia is nice enough too.

Anything on the nose like Loveday is pretty cringe though.

ohtowinthelottery · 01/07/2024 15:58

Crikey. Just when you think you've heard it all!
We called our DD Sweet Pea - but quite clearly that wasn't on her birth certificate!
As others have said, call her what you like, but for the sake of your child, please give her a name that she isn't going to be bullied with at school.

IShouldNotBeSurprised · 01/07/2024 15:55

I'm with the others, terms of endearment don't need to be their legal name or a nickname of their legal name. My daughter-in-law's mom's name is often used as a term of endearment. We've known them since DIL was a little girl and I still feel awkward using her Mom's name.

Peonies12 · 01/07/2024 15:54

Then just call her Lovey as a nickname and chose another name. You need to consider them as an adult!

Needmorelego · 01/07/2024 15:53

Lovey doesn't need to be short for anything.
Surely everyone calls their kid Lovey at one time or another.
Just pick one somewhere between Amy and Zoe. There's plenty to choose from.

Clovey

Clovette

Clovette sounds like something you get from a pharmacy.

SilverSimca · 01/07/2024 15:49

Clover might work

listsandbudgets · 01/07/2024 15:48

Lovella perhaps?

I think it was more used towards the end of the 19th century but rare even then. It has the advantage that if you go off Lovey (quite likely lets face it!) you can use Ella

We currently have Lala (Larissa) if that helps

So your children will be Lala and Lovey?
😵‍💫 rather you than me….

also lovey conjures Christopher biggins and the-a-tre types for me… I don’t lovey it (pardon the pun)

that said Larissa is a really nice name.

Amsx · 01/07/2024 15:46

Clovey

Clovette

Clearinguptheclutter · 01/07/2024 15:44

Loveday I suppose?
I know one in her 40s and she loves it

but both my kids are called Luvvy all the time.

NewGreenDuck · 01/07/2024 15:42

I call both my adult kids, sweetheart or darling, but they do actually have proper names. Just find a name, a proper name, that you like and use whatever endearment you fancy at home.

CosFuckThatGuy · 01/07/2024 15:40

Lovey is honestly giving me the boak.

Just name your child something appropriate and call her whatever you like at home. Often the nicknames come out of left field.

My kids get called Chips, Bear, Bearface, Fishhead, Skittle, and a thousand other random things. Nicknames are supposed to come naturally.

Lovey is a haaaaaard no.

Dd's mate has a dd Gifty... Honestly op don't do it..
Lots of perfectly nice names out there.. Lovey isn't one of them.

I’ve known 2 women called Gifty, it’s a traditional name in some countries.

Marmiteontoastgirlie · 01/07/2024 15:37

If you already have a Larissa then names with L and or V sounds would work for a lovey and have same vibe as Larissa

Lavinia
Viola
Violet
Valentina
Olivia (common nn is Livvy so lovey is v close)
Valerie

GHSP · 01/07/2024 15:36

Lovell or Lovel used to be a boys’ name but could be used for a girl.

CornflakesOnTheSolesOfHerShoes · 01/07/2024 15:36

Gifty is a very traditional West African name, whoever mentioned that one. I’ve worked with several.

Lovey is a term of endearment.

Chersfrozenface · 01/07/2024 15:35

Phial · 01/07/2024 15:11

Lavinia?

Lovey is a term of endearment round here.

It's a much used term of endearment. In some places every second shop assistant calls you "lovey".
