We LOVE the name Lovey for a little girl, but obviously for more professional circumstances/later life it wouldn't be appropriate. Any ideas for what Lovey could be a nickname for?

Lauren with a lisp?

It's Cornish. Means happy/joyful.

I thought calling a boy "Sonny" was bad.

@theapii you can edit your post within a few minutes if you notice an error
Use the three dots on top corner gives you the option to edit your post
Not sure how long you have to do it though , at least four minutes !five minutes!

theapii · 01/07/2024 18:47

Or*

Mansionscoldandgrey · 01/07/2024 18:46

How about Loverly? Then in true MN tradition, your next baby can be Jimberly.

theapii · 01/07/2024 18:46

Sorry OP I'm not usually one to say anything negative about someone's choice of name, even when friends have called their child Parker of Jaxon (cringe!) but Lovey - that's just not good at all, sorry!

Nelly91 · 01/07/2024 18:46

How about Spendilove?

Needmorelego · 01/07/2024 18:44

@Kelly51 In a normal world I would assume that "Lala" is a nickname that evolved - like the child themselves learning to say their name and only managing the "La" bit.
But this is Mumsnet where people seem to give their children a nickname before they're even born which I find really odd 😂

Chartreux · 01/07/2024 18:42

People will spell her name Luvvie and think she's a rather fey actor.

Lala and Lovey? Seriously?????????

Coconutter24 · 01/07/2024 18:40

I actually really liked the name ‘love’ from the Netflix show YOU. It suited her but I can’t imagine a child in real life being called it

Geiyotue · 01/07/2024 18:40

Lovena as already suggested is nice.

schloss · 01/07/2024 18:37

Is it common to pick the nickname both before a given name and before the baby is born? Do nicknames not just appear as time goes on?

My father still calls me by a name which no-one else ever uses and is as far removed from my name as you could possibly imagine. It most certainly wasn't agreed by my parents before I was born.
