I know someone who has just called their child Bathsheba!! I’ve never heard the name before, is it literally said Bath - Sheba? Not that I’d ever say it but I think it might be one of the ugliest sounding names I’ve ever heard!

That and Scheherazade were on my list..
Wasn't brave enough to use either in the end

@bathshebaeverbusy, wonderful names - both Bathsheba and Hepzibah are names I would have used had I ever had daughters, along with Keziah and Rebbekah - love biblical names!

My chickens are Faith, Hope and Charity, which, as 'virtue' names seem to be frowned upon these days, for some reason, along with many of the biblical names.

Really? Confused Are you serious?! I just can't imagine shouting 'Bathsheba, Bathsheba, Bathsheba!' down the street, if my daughter runs down the pathway towards a friend or to run after the cat.

It's just not a name I would ever call a child. I don't think any child would thank you for this name truth be told.

The only ones I “know” are the bible one and the paedophile teacher from Notes on a scandal. I love both stories but I don’t think I’d go there.

Ha! I love it. My very lovely blue Giant Orpington chicken was named Bathsheba and her sister was Hepzibah.

Wonderful name and love story Bathsheba and Gabriel Oak. If I had ever had a daughter its the sort of name I’d have chosen.

It's a nice sounding name, but it's known from a particularly sordid biblical story. Wiki has quite a good summary. (Mind you, it ought to put people off the name David more. Ugh)

Change from all the ditsy ones in fashion; Maisie, Daisy, Dottie, Lottie, Kitty, Poppy, Betsey etc

I’m not religious so I am familiar with it as it’s one of Thomas Hardy’s most famous female protagonists… Far From the Madding Crowd.
