Thoughts on name Victor?

What do you think of Victor as a name? We live in Chiswick, West London, and have not met many Victors in the area. Would you say it's a common name?

Some people say is quite elegant and timeless (Queen Victoria reminiscences) while others think it's a bit harsh, rough or even tacky...

What do you think? DP is Scandinavian and really likes it for our boy - but I'm not sure.

Thanks!

Great name. Absolutely due a revival.

This is really helpful - thank you! No rough or tacky connotations so far...?

I met a little Victor this week, I thought it was lovely.

My DH is a Victor! He's the only one I know, named after his great granddad. He gets Vic mainly, other than his DM who always uses his full name. I knew him at school (same year) and he didn't receive any negative comments about his name. I like it! But obviously biased. Smile

I don’t know any Victors so my mind goes to Victor Meldrew! But I’m sure that association would go quickly as soon as I met a little Victor. It’s a good, solid name.
