Jennifer has just popped into my head. What do you think? Too dated? Not keen on the shortenings, but think Jennifer is beautiful.

I like it mainly because I like Jenny.

Cluborange666 · 17/06/2024 22:42

I dislike it.

Aria999 · 17/06/2024 22:42

I like it.

(Also Yennifer in The Witcher is very cool)

CatherinesBar · 17/06/2024 22:28

Very popular in my generation. Like the shortened versions too

JennifernotJenny · 17/06/2024 14:08

Changed my username to say as one of the many 40something, apart from a brief flirtation at uni, I have always been a Jennifer. Apparently even as a toddler I was stroppy at the shortening to Jenny!

Its an OK name, but I can’t be neutral about it as it’s mine.

CelesteCunningham · 17/06/2024 14:04

I love it, BUT every single Jennifer I've known (and I'm 40, so there's a lot of them) has been Jenny or Jen to at least some people in their life, so if you can't stand those then I wouldn't pick it.

WhenSunnyGetsBlue · 17/06/2024 13:05

I love Jennifer. Unfortunately I couldn't use it so my daughter's name is Jessica. Don't worry about it being 'dated'. It's a real classic, very pretty. Agree with PP, you can be anything you want with a name like Jennifer.

PithyLion · 15/06/2024 22:59

of course, but Jenny is less likely and that is what the OP doesn't want, I think

You're right, I hadn't read her OP correctly

soundsys · 16/06/2024 22:01

Yes! Definitely due a revival! Has the benefit of being easy to spell and pronounce and there being unlikely to be another in the class

Ivfnoclue · 16/06/2024 21:41

Jennifer is my number 1 name if I have a daughter. My grandmother was a Jennifer.

OperationalSupport · 16/06/2024 19:16

I’m a late 80s Jennifer. Only called so because my mum thought I didn’t look like the original name they’d picked and Jennifer seemed inoffensive 😂. They always said you could be anyone you want with a name like Jennifer.

It gives options. I tend to introduce myself as Jenny and close friends and family call me Jen, and I had a phase of being Jenni when I was a teen.

Hannahspeltbackwards · 16/06/2024 18:53

I hate it, but it's my name.

That's not to say your daughter will grow up hating it though!

BlueSkyMoth · 16/06/2024 18:48

Thanks for the replies. Really surprised by all the love for Jennifer.

Really like it!

SnowFrogJelly · 16/06/2024 01:12

Lovely

BedBathAndBeyonce · 16/06/2024 01:04

I love it. My sister’s name. She has always adored her own name (even as a teen).

Violet17 · 16/06/2024 00:56

yes I like it

Peonii · 16/06/2024 00:46

I prefer Ginnifer.

I used to know a really narcissistic shit stirrer called Jennifer so it's been somewhat tainted for me.

Berlinlover · 16/06/2024 00:39

It’s a beautiful name, I love it.

Latenighttelly · 16/06/2024 00:36

I'm a 1960's Jennifer and whilst I never use the long version I like being Jenny and even more prefer Jen. Glad I like my name tbh.

OVienna · 16/06/2024 00:32

Love it.

FizzyPiglet · 15/06/2024 23:06

I'm one of the millions of late 70's Jennifer's & appreciate the love!

When I was little I was Jenny.
At work I am Jennifer.
To my friends I am Jen.

I like how it adapts to different situations!

Cute name. Very nice! Due a revival! Smile

Moreteaandchocolate · 15/06/2024 23:03

I love it! I love Jenny too :)

pontipinemum · 15/06/2024 22:44

Lovely name it was the name I used in most of my stories as child.

@PithyLion plenty of options to shorten Guinevere that I've heard anyway

of course, but Jenny is less likely and that is what the OP doesn't want, I think
