Baby name help needed

Hi everyone,

I am really struggling with naming my third child.

We already have Thomas (we call him Tom) and Annabelle (we call her Annie).

We have just had another girl and I am really struggling to decide!

Some ideas are-

Norah
Beatrice
Poppy

What do you think of Norah? I worry that it’s not feminine enough but like how it sounds with Tom and Annie.

We are using Iris as the middle name.

Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Thank you

Did you make a decision @PinkFlamingo23 ? It took ten days to name our second child and people (well mainly my mother) really starting stressing out he had no name, even though we were not stressed.

RichPetunia · 11/06/2024 21:27

Why don't you use Iris as the first name? Goes well and is a lovely name.

VincentVanGoth · 11/06/2024 20:58

I like Norah.

Eloise
Felicity
Clementine

BobbyBiscuits · 11/06/2024 20:54

Nova
Leni
Lark
Sky
Sinead
Vida
Rowan
Azelie

I love Beatrice! Think it works well with Thomas and Annabelle and also as Tom, Annie and Bea.

I like Norah too, but it seems very different in style to Annabelle, if that matters. Also agree with PP that Norah Iris sounds like norovirus! I really like the suggestions of Eleanor with Nora or Nell as a nickname - gives more options and sounds lovely alongside your other names.

Aglassaday · 11/06/2024 20:00

Tom, Annie and…
Francesca nn Frankie
Bethany nn beth
Evelyn nn Evie
Imogen nn Immy
Delilah nn Lilah
Sophia nn Soph
Charlotte nn Lottie
Gabriella nn Gabi
Olivia nn Livi
Melissa nn Mel
Felicity nn Fliss
Matilda nn Tilly
Emilia nn Emmy
Roxanne nn Roxie
Beatrix nn Bea/Betty/Trixie
Isabella nn Izzy
Jessica nn Jess

Heavenlyhoumous · 11/06/2024 19:51

I love Nora, Beatrice nn Bea goes well but prefer Nora. Maybe Jemima, Stella, Hattie?

@CoffeeBeansGalore Annie and Clarabel are the carriages from Thomas the Tank Engine 😅

Thank you! Honestly didn't know 😁.

LauderSyme · 11/06/2024 13:20

Sorry but I don't like any of your options. I don't think they are very nice names on their own and none of them go well with Iris.

I don't think having two flower names is bad.

Rosalie or Rosamund - Rosie
Cassandra - Cassie
Henrietta - Hettie
Francesca
Maisie
Bessie
Stella
Freya
Marnie
Romilly

TheBirdintheCave · 11/06/2024 13:06

Moreteaandchocolate · 11/06/2024 12:49

I love Nora (or Nell) as a nn for Eleanor and Poppy from your ideas.

I also love Iris and would use it as a first name!

Or

Layla
Alice
Clara
Violet
Ivy
Isla
Rosie
Eliza

YourWinter · 11/06/2024 12:38

Beatrice Iris doesn’t flow at all.
Poppy Iris means two flower names, not a good look.
Norah Iris just sounds like Norovirus.

Mumofgirls2017 · 11/06/2024 12:36

I love Norah and would pick that one. Other ideas. Thomas, Annabelle and

Eliza
Eloise
Juliet
Flora
Rosalie
Violet
Clara
Matilda
Penelope
Martha
Harriet

Clarabel?

Fictional cow?

Although I love Clara.

user1492757084 · 11/06/2024 10:52

Tom, Annie and ..
Edwina Iris
Honoria Iris - Honor
Leonor Iris
Beatrix Iris - Beaty, Bea, Trixie
Poppy Isla
Poppy Eliza

Poppy Iris is a bit of a flower over load.

DogInATent · 11/06/2024 10:22

There's someone in a similar position with a Thomas and Edward on another thread..

DogInATent · 11/06/2024 10:20

As long as you avoid Clarabel, you'll be fine.

cross posted 😂

like Beatrice, Do Not like Norah, love Iris

Pemba · 11/06/2024 10:18

I like Norah best (or Nora?). Plus it's not overused, which is good.

Never been that keen on the sound of Beatrice, and Poppy is cutesy and will be misunderstood in other countries.

Sleepnplay · 11/06/2024 10:12

I was just going to suggest Eleanor nn Nora too (also Nell is v cute)

Beatrice is fine, but also really love Beatrix, nn Trixie or Bea.

Poppy is sweet for a kid but i find it a bit cutesy/childish for an adult. Just my opinion though, and there will be plenty around!

Harriet (nn Hattie)
Felicity (nn Fliss)
Imogen (nn Ginny)
Cassandra (nn Cassie)
Katherine (nn Kitty)

Gemstonebeach · 11/06/2024 09:50

What about Eleanor? We know someone with an Eleanor nn Nora.

Beatrice is lovely but I really really like Beatrix

Not a fan of Poppy but some other options - Sophia, Georgina or Emily?

Overthebow · 11/06/2024 09:46

Clarabel?

miniaturepixieonacid · 11/06/2024 09:44

I don't mind Norah (I'd drop the h personally) but I actually think both Poppy and Beatrice go much better with Tom and Annie (and with Thomas and Annabel).

All nice names. If you want other suggestions then Annie/Annabels and Toms/Thomases that I know have siblings called:

Jessica, Elsa, Kitty, Charlotte, Eva, Isabella, Holly

Freddie, Max, Hugo, Henry, Louis, Charles

AdaColeman · 11/06/2024 09:42

I like Beatrice, but not keen on your other names.

Lucinda would go with Annabelle with Lucy or Cindy as a nn.
Or
Felicity
Corinna
Belinda
have all got a similar vibe to Annabelle.
