Full disclosure: the babies we are naming are hens, not humans, so no need to worry about school bullying or job applications

Obviously Henrietta is on the list, open to any and all suggestions

So many of the names on this thread are uncommon and/or pretentious not posh.

But they’ll be ‘posh’ for some posters, depending on their own social positioning. I’m ‘posh’ to some people because I have an Oxford degree, several postgraduate degrees, a professional job, and live in an expensive area, even though I grew up with an outside loo and a binman dad.

Eggletina (The Borrowers) or Eglantine (Fr).

What a great name for a hen.

I see the following as very posh names

Cressida
Cosima
Nigella
Araminta
Octavia

I don't find any of the others 'posh' tbh.

GeorgeCrabtreesAuntBegonia · 08/06/2024 23:04

My name has been mentioned on here several times. I never considered it posh. It’s an old lady’s name but I like it.
I grew up in a council prefab so, posh? Moi? I don’t think so.
And my best friend was called Bunny. Go figure.
