Full disclosure: the babies we are naming are hens, not humans, so no need to worry about school bullying or job applications

Obviously Henrietta is on the list, open to any and all suggestions

To echo a PP's suggestions - Debo would be good because Debo, Duchess of Devonshire, was a great chicken fancier. And nothing posher than a silly nn.

Carinthia, Sibylla not sure mentioned already?

I briefly fantasised about getting a few chickens (three) when I finally acquired a house with a garden. Wasn't really a big enough garden, though, so didn't in the end. But I named my fantasy chickens Queenie, Quince, and Mistress Quickly.

I came here to say Harriet but I feel that pales in comparison to some of these. Never even heard of Araminta! (Edit - I can't help saying Araminta in the poshest voice imaginable) 😂

Edited

I have a real life Harriet and she is a teenager so refuses to be anything approaching posh.....😂

I wanted to call her Jemima but DH wasn't keen - but might be great for chucks or puddleducks?

Esmerelda, Ermintrude?

Bunny and Piggy, they need to be proper boarding school names.

YouOKHun · 09/06/2024 22:23

Some great suggestions here but for pets you can’t go wrong with a wartime name not yet back in fashion;

Sheila
