Eden or Edyn? Girl or Boy?

Love the name - undecided on spelling and on which gender I prefer

Eden is the spelling (if you are in the UK at least, can't speak for the whole world).

I know both a bot and a girl with the name, so wouldn't assume either.

Eden, definitely not Edyn (since it’s derived from the Biblical Garden) . As a nature/place name it’s obviously technically unisex but it swings slightly female to me since its sound is similar to Edie (which is currently trendy for girls ala Sedgwick). Imo Eden’s a very pretty choice btw.

I don't like Eden as a first name. Edyn looks like it should be said as Ed-in or Eedin.

I work with a male Eden, but the name always reminds me of the very beautiful woman in a Barbara Vine novel.

Edyn looks as if it should be pronounced Edd-yin

Edyn is ridiculous. Eden is nice. I’d assume a girl, didn’t know it was originally a male name.

Edin is the spelling of the Dortmund mgr or Eden as in Hazard or Džeko. I'd presume boy name.

I read Edyn as ‘Edd-inn’ which would be bad enough as a boys name but dreadful for a girl 🙈

This is what I declared to my youngest child yesterday when he stuck his head out the window at the house hold waste site

I've only known male Edens so it sounds very much like a boys name to me, it always surprises me when it comes up on here as everyone tends to think of it as a girls name.

I love Eden - but only for a girl. Never heard of Edyn and like others, I would assume a different pronunciation which I'm not keen on.

I like Eden for a girl but accept it is traditionally male. Definitely used more often for girls now though.

Edyn is dreadful. I would pronounce Ed-in rather than Ee-den.

Eden is fine for both.

Edyn is a scientific constant (in the right notation…) and would likely be repeatedly spelled incorrectly or mispronounced.

I really like the name Eden for a girl . . . I think it suits both a child & an adult which is always one of my main considerations

I've never come across Edyn and think it's likely to be problematic with both the spelling and pronunciation

Thus is a Hebrew name and I believe the pronunciation is Eh-den, not Ee-den. Know a couple of Eden's pronounced Eh-den and really suits them.

Edyn is just stupid.

Eden is urgh; like calling your kid paradise. Imagine shouting that across the park at your tantrumming kid, or saying 'Eden stop picking your nose' or any of the other gross things you have to stop kids from doing.

I like the name Eden. I like its simplicity. It's probably more of a girls' name now but Eden Hazard is out there reppin' the male Edens very well.
