It's a little boy's name. Not a man's name. And presumably one would hope the little boy will grow into a man, so... thumbs down here, sorry.

Jimmy Carter's Daddy was a peanut farmer. He probably didn't have President of the United States in his sights either ...

It's going to be a bit when he's a head teacher/top scientist/head of MI5/Prime Minister though, isn't it!

Woof!

NotABanana · 06/04/2008 19:22

Would the baby's father want to have been called Buddy?

NotABanana · 06/04/2008 19:21

Plenty of others that are nice and actually a name. If you really have to have it, what about as a middle name?

kidsx4 · 06/04/2008 19:15

Ok thanks thought it would be a "nice different name"

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 06/04/2008 12:32

Awful. Like calling your kid Mate.

LaDiDaDi · 06/04/2008 11:14

Dog

cyteen · 06/04/2008 11:12

It does make me think of a dog's name - sorry.

windygalestoday · 06/04/2008 10:25

my puppy IS called buddy its short for budweiser here tho lol

FrannyandZooey · 06/04/2008 10:25

not sure

Buda · 06/04/2008 10:23

It is not a name. It is a word. Sorry.

And it's very American.

WigWamBam · 06/04/2008 10:14

I don't like it at all.

Great as a nickname - but I suspect a child given it as his "proper" name wouldn't much like it once he got past the age of about 6.

Hulababy · 06/04/2008 10:02

I don't like it, sorry.

MrsMattie · 06/04/2008 10:02

A 'No' from me.

SlartyBartFast · 06/04/2008 10:00

don't they use it in schools?
a friendship buddy?

vicsta · 06/04/2008 10:00

Definitely not where I live, we use the word Buddy instead of mate, i.e. allright buddy?, c'mon buddy. But then, I suppose that makes it quite a popular name!

dizzydixies · 06/04/2008 09:56

not keen either sorry
