We can’t decide between two names!

We are completely stuck between two names for our little boy. Lucas or Freddie (Frederick). Please could I have your opinions!! Lucas seems easy and no need to shorten. Frederick would always be called Freddie which I love and don’t have a problem with either. But we just don’t know!!

Lucas. It feels less babyish on a grown man than Freddie!

shams05 · 30/05/2024 13:57

Is your baby here? Sometimes it's easier to wait and see which name suits them better.

maw1681 · 30/05/2024 13:55

I prefer Frederick but just personal preference as never liked the name Lucas.
Luke is nicer imho

NetMum2 · 30/05/2024 13:18

I prefer Frederick nn Freddie

shoopshoopdedoo · 29/05/2024 20:29

Love Freddie. It seems everyone does, if popularity bothers you? The last three newborn baby boys I know have all been called Freddie!

I really don’t like Lucas though, so I’d still pick Freddie.

RuthW · 29/05/2024 20:12

Frederick

Squashinthepinkcup · 29/05/2024 20:08

I know a lot of Freddie, don't know a single Lucas. Know a few called Luca, but not Lucas!

Firsttimebabymummy · 29/05/2024 20:05

Frederick

Moreteaandchocolate · 29/05/2024 17:09

I like both! Freddie has more of a vintage classic feel, whereas Lucas feels a bit more trendy / international to me. Which vibe do you prefer? I think I’d choose Freddie.

MillenialAvocado · 29/05/2024 16:36

I like Lucas!

ManilowBarry · 29/05/2024 15:38

Lucas

CadyEastman · 29/05/2024 15:09

Luke is even better

That would depend very much on your regional accent Wink

I know so many Freddies. (Under the age of 10). And all are without exception lovely boys.

I have not come across a young Lucas in the wild. 30s and above yes, but not under 10s. So I would lean towards that myself. But that said-both mine have what i thought were fairly unusual but became top 10s within a few years of their birth so what do I know!

BoudiccaOfSuburbia · 29/05/2024 15:06

Both good, but would say Lucas

user1492757084 · 29/05/2024 15:01

I also prefer Frederick to Lucas.
Freddy, Freddie, Fred

CadyEastman · 29/05/2024 15:01

Freddie. My DGF was a Fred and he was absolutely adorable.

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 29/05/2024 15:00

I prefer Frederick but with Fred not Freddie as the diminutive. Fred seems a really cool teen name.

LoisFarquar · 29/05/2024 14:59

Lucas. Freddie is both wearyingly overused and has cheeky chappie vibes, while Frederick is stuffy.

TomatoSandwiches · 29/05/2024 14:56

Lucas, Frederick needs a break for another 20yrs or so, overdone imo.

Sunnnybunny72 · 29/05/2024 14:56

Lucas over Freddie (no more ie ending names please!)
Luke is even better.

Eeeden · 29/05/2024 14:55

Not keen on either but if I had to choose between them I would choose Freddie.

murasaki · 29/05/2024 14:53

Both nice, but Lucas is my choice.

BoleynMemories13 · 29/05/2024 14:52

I prefer Lucas, out of the two, but Freddie is ok.

Lucas is very handsome and the few who I have taught have all been lovely. Freddie feels more like a cheeky chappy name to me.

TribeofFfive · 29/05/2024 14:46

Lucas. I know more than 10 Freddie’s under 10 and he will get Freddie.

Maddy70 · 29/05/2024 14:45

I like both but every Freddie I have taught has been so lovely that I'm drawn to that more
