My DP likes this for our baby DD but I'm not keen.

Just to balance the comments a bit, I know a Lexi who went to Oxford. I have no idea whether she was officially an Alexandra though.

PitterPatter3 · 18/05/2024 22:27

Honestly I just think chav. Sorry but you did ask.

BobnLen · 18/05/2024 22:18

Eastenders

AGodawfulsmallaffair · 18/05/2024 22:18

David Bowie’s daughter is called Lexi. He was hardly a chav - but that’s a horrible word anyway.

MooseBreath · 18/05/2024 22:16

One of my best friends growing up was Alexandra "Lexi". She's in her mid-30s now. Definitely not chavvy!

SemperIdem · 17/05/2024 20:58

It’s not great as a given name.

Cesarina · 17/05/2024 20:50

Steven Gerrard 🙄

FlambeJones · 17/05/2024 20:40

I think of The Archers 🤷‍♀️

Treesinmygarden · 17/05/2024 20:38

Sexy Lexi! It's really chavvy! Classical names age so much better IMO!

SirChenjins · 17/05/2024 20:36

Overpumped lips, bleached hair and black Range Rovers with illegally tinted windows.

YouwouldthinkIhavemoresense · 17/05/2024 20:36

I do love it but Alexandra might be better so you can shorten it.

I love Roxy too. Always have.

I used to work with male substance users and offenders.

Nearly all of them had a child with a woman who wouldn't let them see the child for a reason that was 'obviously' not their fault... and 9/10 if a girl the child was called Lexi. Or Lexi-May etc

I can't move past that.

My DD went to gymnastics with a Lexi-May who was absolutely wild and being raised by her gran.

Crunched · 17/05/2024 20:27

Monarch of the Glen. I like it.

ABirdsEyeView · 17/05/2024 20:25

I think it's cute, as a nn for Alexandra. Not as a birth certificate name in its own right.

AllThePotatoesAreSinging · 17/05/2024 19:47

Plane crash. Poor Meredith.

EmiliaGeorge · 17/05/2024 16:51

not a fan - sorry! Reminds me of a “chavvy” (hate to use that word) girl from school who always caused problems.

Haha first comment and funnily enough this is my exact only experience of the name too.
I still like the name though it just sounds nice

JacketPotatoFoodOfTheGods · 17/05/2024 19:10

Alexa is nicer. But Amazon have rather ruined it 🙄

Yup v. frequent name in families who come to the attention of the authorities in one way or another. See also Lillie-Mae, Ellie and Evie.

ApolloandDaphne · 17/05/2024 18:48

My friends beagle is called Lexi.

NetMum2 · 17/05/2024 18:43

As lovely as the nickname is, it unfortunately rhymes with ‘sexy’!

Itsmychristmasdress · 17/05/2024 18:40

Chavvy is a terrible word.

muddyford · 17/05/2024 18:12

A police dog handler friend had a dog called Lexi.

AlwaysGinPlease · 17/05/2024 18:09

Awful

ginasevern · 17/05/2024 18:08

Chavvy name OP, you are right.
