Sister for Arabella…

Clara (I worry it’s too plain though)
Ottilie

Suggestions are very welcome!!

Names on the list that have been ruled out: Aurelia, Ophelia, Eloise (although reconsidering this one)

Anything but Ottilie.

Firsttimebabymummy · 24/08/2024 20:51

Love Clara

We have Arabella and Ottile sisters in our family so I think they go great together.

sel2223 · 24/08/2024 19:19

Arabella and Cressida? Claudia? Delilah? Beatrice?

PerkyMintDeer · 24/08/2024 17:34

The sibsets I know IRL which work are

Arabella and Beatrice
Arabella and Rosaline
Arabella and Cecily
Arabella and Juniper
Arabella and Francesca

Clara is getting very popular imo, as is Ottilie

I’m not sure we share the same taste, but I do like Clara from your choices. Not keen on the others, especially Ottilie - it was pretty unheard of a few years ago and now there are so many!

Ottilie sounds much better but other suggestions are Claudia, Sarah, Eliza.
And congrats to you.!!🤗

FayCarew · 24/08/2024 17:04

I only like Clair-a pronunciation and it was Clair-a in the UK until fairly recently.
Eloise gets misspelt as Elouise, which would do my head in.
Ottilie might get 'Oh'illeh' in some accents.

Suggestions - Louisa, Matilda, Tabitha, Melissa

I only like Ottilie or Eloise
I'm not keen on Clara because I only like Clar-a pronunciation pver Claire-a one and I find Ottilie easier to say to both way Clara can be pronounced.
That said, I'm fully into camp to reconsider Eloise. I think it works on both fully English and fully French girl and it's pretty easy to pronounce.

Mumsnet scales yet another peak - plumbs yet another depth? - of pretentiousness.

Airtentmamma23 · 24/08/2024 15:26

Hate the name Ottilie. It's try hard as means wealthy and a lot of the mum's are that "type" in my opinion... (Loads here in Surrey).

Lila878 · 16/05/2024 20:58

Clara 💕

Heckythump1 · 16/05/2024 20:58

I know siblings Arabella and Matilda :) I think they go beautifully together!

Arabella and Harriet maybe?

tuvamoodyson · 16/05/2024 20:56

Arabella & Hermione

Wafflesforbreakfast · 16/05/2024 20:41

I think Ottilie is a lovely name but agree with a previous poster that Arabella and Ottilie might be a mouthful. Lots of cute nicknames for Ottilie though. I like Clara too.

Another option is Alissia. Prefer this spelling to Alicia/Alyssia!

I like it but with Alyssia spelling (Alicia has pronounciation issues and alissia looks a bit odd).
prefer Alyssa though

I adore the name Clara - also I think the two names work better together.

"Arabella and Ottilie" is a bit of a mouthful to say, and think of all the times they'll be called together.

Ottilie as a middle name would work really well though!

Nicebloomers · 16/05/2024 13:09

I really like Clara, not a big fan of Ottilie. It’s feels faddy. And don’t we pronounce it incorrectly?

user1492757084 · 16/05/2024 10:37

Arabella and Eloise is the nicest pair.
Others ..

Clare
Elowen
Victoria
Jane

FayCarew · 16/05/2024 08:24

Eloise is the nicest on your list by far. I don't like the others. You might end up with an Ella and Ellie though.

Riverlee · 16/05/2024 07:46

Prefer Ottilie.
