what does everyone think of Tyler for a boy? Is it very common or chavvy?

Chavvy Im afraid. VERY.
Which is a shame, because its a nice name. It was my favourite choice for ds when I was pregnant (3 yrs ago) but decided against it as my friend said it sounded like a dogs name.
Tbh, Im glad I didnt pick it now becuase it sounds chavvy. Someone who lives round here called her ds Tyler last year, and Iv heard several comments from people, saying that he doesnt stand a chance with a name like that.
Not nice, (and also not true) I doubt your name affects how you get on with life.

Sorry - ugh!

Imo it's a bit chavvy but if you love it go for it.

it's too descriptive, like he'd be good at tiling.
