what does everyone think of Tyler for a boy? Is it very common or chavvy?

I went to college with a girl called Tayo - it was a common name in her birth country.

Is it Téo? That's just French for Theo and it's in the top five boys names in France.

I did briefly know a very sweet little boy called Tayo, not sure that's any better!

Would she go for Tycho. That is the name of a composer, but because it ends in O she might like the trendiness of it.

I went to school with a Tycho and he was so fabulously eccentric.

yuk, chavvy IMO too. Show her this thread IF she has honestly asked for your opinion/advice. If she has not and its just your concern over the name, not much you can do i'm afraid.

true bluenosesaint but a name is for life. there was one other name mentioned Rylan think thats the spelling.

Yes it is up to the friend but it really does have "chavvy" connotations.

I love the Americans. But anything that is American is perceived as being chavy here.

Even say, Quincy, a figure at the Boston Tea Party. I just think, God, stupid American name, parents must be chavs.

Or, you could try in a nice way to let your friend call her son whatever she wants to call him, and to smile politely and say "how lovely". In a nice way.

thanks for all the comments, my friend wants to use it and i am trying in a nice way to change her mind but there is nothing else she likes.
