Middle name for Athena

I really like Athena for a girl.
The only thing that's putting me off is it's really hard to find a middle name that flows nicely.
Other names I love are Summer, Matilda and Violet. As much as I love Rose everyone has the middle name Rose.
I tend to use my children's first and second names most of the time.... As I think middle names should be used if you give them.
The middle name struggle is starting to put me off using Athena.

Not Grace or May either. How about Faith? Or no reason why it couldn't be 2 or 3 syllables. Tamsin, Damaris, Jasmine, Chloe, Rosalind, Emerald.

Parthenos, obviously?

Or even better, no middle name at all. Any non-mythological name sounds out of place paired with a mythological name. But especially as big a cheese as Athena! (aside from whether you approve of her general behaviour and character as a PP pointed out).

I can’t get past the wonderful poster shop called Athena I’m afraid. Now it sells art from many artists.

I know this doesn’t help, thought I’d post just in case you’re not aware it’s a shop.

My first thought also.

Yes, you’re right. The average person has a vast knowledge of Greek mythology, and will definitely assume little Athena from Basingstoke will grow up to be a pick me rape apologist on the fast track to committing war crimes.

😂😂😂

Athena May
Athena Lin
Athena Bee
Athena Eve
Athena Rose

The OP said not Rose. Why does everyone then suggest Rose? 🙄 It's every other girl's middle name anyway.

The one I know is a lovely slightly stroppy take no shit pre-teen now. No school parents (and they were bitchy at that school) have ever really commented on the name.

The one thing I will say is that it does tend to get shrieked by her friends as FEEEENA - so be warned.

They have another Greek mythology middle name - not putting it here as it's a bit outing and it's not my child to do that, but the entire family of kids have mythology related names.

I just think of that tennis player scratching her arse.

Athena = student poster shop

Pallisers · 06/05/2024 00:17

I know an Athena Sunflower - love that. I'd go with Athena Summer. Athena is a serious name - it can take something slightly more whimsical.

It's a stretch but I don't think it's bonkers.

We all know how school gate mums can be. Can totally imagine a scenario where its like 'Athena started it!' 'Oh of course she did, she lives up to her name that one!'.

It's never their precious child. It'll be that 'bad kid named after the war goddess. You always knew she was going to be trouble'.

She ends up being the patsy.
Adults can be vicious too where there kids are concerned.

Edited

I can't figure out if you're posting in jest or in earnest.

If you're serious, that's the most bonkers post I've ever seen on Mumsnet.

BathshebaEverdene1 · 05/05/2024 18:25

Something with one syllable. Like Jean or Jane, or yes, Joy.

No.offence but not everyone has an extensive knowledge of Greek mythology do they? In fact very few have any knowledge of it.

BTW if you stress the middle syllable, like the poster shop, or the was we Brits woukd say it,..it means "Athens" ( the city).

The girls name has the stress on the final syllable AthiNAH.

this will only matter if you go to Greece on holiday.
