Boy/girl twins

DH and I are expecting boy/girl twins in the summer. We are having a little bit of a rough time picking names.
For the boy we really like simple classic names such as

  • Alex
  • James
  • Henry
  • Harry
  • Max
For the girl we still like classics but want them to have a very sweet/pretty/soft look, sound a feel such as
  • Bella
  • Anna
  • Pippa

So far no two names feel right, I like Bella and James best, DH prefers Anna and Max but not sold on either.

We are open to less common names as long as they aren’t too out there.

Our surname is Stone - any ideas?

Anna and Alex would be cute.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 06/05/2024 11:59

James and Anna.

WillYouPutYourCoatOn · 06/05/2024 06:23

We have boy/girl twins.

Our name list was almost identical. Our boy is Maxwell.

I like pretty frilly girls names, so this was our list for DD and her name is in here:

Valentina
Annabelle
Gabriella
Evangeline
Vivienne

Given you like Max, I'd go for Maxwell and Annabelle.

James and Anna - perfect.

Yokaiwatch · 03/05/2024 22:55

Hi @Ansiel i think you have a good choice of names. I like Alex and Anna the best. Beautiful names.

Congratulations!

As said Stone needs a longer name..at least two syllables if not 3 . And because its quite a plain name l would go for something a bit less plain.
What about Annabel Stone..has both names
Or Abigail
Or Elizabeth
Or Harriet
Boys
Cameron Stone
Or Matthew
And Alexander Stone is a great name..obviously not with Annabel!!

I actually think Alexander and Annabel work well together (Anna and Alex) as long as you don’t mind same first initial

Alex and Sasha

James and Sasha

Alex and Sasha are both diminutives of the same names so I think it would be weird. People may think you had named your twins Alexander and Alexandra (makes me think of Enid blyton books)

ontheflighttosingapore · 03/05/2024 22:25

Max and ruby

Instantly thought - Alexander and Pippa.

I don’t really like matchy twin names and love the both of these!

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 03/05/2024 21:51

Anna and Henry

i agree that James doesn’t work well with your surname, sounds like James tone

shoopshoopdedoo · 03/05/2024 21:16

I love Anna. And I love all your boy name choices. I think I’d pick Anna and James or Anna and Henry.

For a one syllable surname a two or three syllable given name works best. Agree Max and James don’t work with Stone.

I really like Anna and it goes well with your surname... but query whether you'd like to be "A Stone".

TheCultureHusks · 03/05/2024 17:10

All good names but both Max and James kind of run into Stone. Maxtone. Jamestone.

I like Anna best by a mile and it works well as two syllable. Bella is ok.

Leo is lovely and good with Stone.

Ladyj84 · 03/05/2024 17:10

We called our girls Hanna and Ava
