Which of these options do you prefer?

Surname is Rickman

If neither, any other Ideas with a similar theme?

I picked Ernest because Eldred is awful. At first, I wondered if it was a spelling mistake (sorry!).

My favourite boy name beginning with ‘E’ is Edward by far.

NightPuffins · 30/04/2024 21:59

Eldred sounds magnificent but I don't think I'd be brave enough to use it.
Ernest is lovely, go for that one!

SkaneTos · 30/04/2024 21:22

I voted for Ernest, it's a nice name.
I have never heard the name Eldred before, but I'm not from the UK, so that might be why.

How about Jimberley instead?

😂

ALunchbox · 30/04/2024 21:09

I really like Ernest!

RuthW · 30/04/2024 21:08

Ernest is lovely

nocoolnamesleft · 30/04/2024 20:02

Aeldred must be Anglo Saxon, surely.

Maximumbo · 30/04/2024 19:25

Ernest is fab.

Eldred is ok, probably a more of a grower.

Don't have yet another Edward or Edmund.

Beachs · 30/04/2024 19:13

As someone who suffered with hyperemesis, I feel the pain of wanting to think about anything other than throwing up and wondering if your child actually hates you even before they’ve met you on the outside, step away from the baby name lists for a little bit until you feel a little better.

my name choices whilst being sick left a lot to be desired as well.

sunflowerlover282 · 30/04/2024 19:10

Neither!

beetlebrain · 30/04/2024 19:01

StiggyZardust · 30/04/2024 18:56

Eldred! Or possibly Edmund?

Edmund! But I am biased: DS is Edmund. He's 32 though. It was rare when we named him

lovemycbf · 30/04/2024 18:59

Oh god no both names are terrible sorry

IrisRuby · 30/04/2024 18:58

Definitely Ernest nick name Ernie. I love the older names!

StiggyZardust · 30/04/2024 18:56

Eldred! Or possibly Edmund?

Teenylittlefella · 30/04/2024 18:50

My son has a friend called Ernest, never shortened, doesn't get the mick taken. So that one.

Berlinlover · 30/04/2024 18:47

Both awful.

DramaAlpaca · 30/04/2024 18:47

I'm blaming your hormones.

Ernest has to be one of the ugliest names out there, and if I were to write a book about a sorcerer he'd be called something along the lines of Eldred.

Bignanna · 30/04/2024 18:46

Potatomashed · 30/04/2024 14:58

Eldred sounded female to me

Sounds like a medieval king- Eldred the bold!

ClipClopperDontStopper · 30/04/2024 18:36

I would have guessed that Eldred was a female name. Sounds like the kind of name one of Uhtred son of Uhtred's (lucky) conquests might have had.

IamII · 30/04/2024 18:34

Both absolutely brutal.

Just wait until your gorgeous squishy little baby appears; there is, honest to god, zero chance you'll look at him and think 'he's so beautiful. Definitely an Eldred'.

KayEmAy · 30/04/2024 18:14

Red is too cool of a nickname for me not to vote for it :)

takemeawayagain · 30/04/2024 17:48

Eldred is hideous. Edward is better than either of your other choices IMO.
