Originally going to be called Jim after my granddad, but we've found out we're having a girl. Would this work?

@Calliopespa is a genius and wins the internet today. God, I needed this laugh 😂

Mistredd · 29/04/2024 17:48

Oh bless you, no. Definitely not.
Save Jim for if you have a boy at some later stage. Any nannas or Grannys you could name after?

LuluBlakey1 · 29/04/2024 17:53

Jimbolina

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 29/04/2024 17:54

No don't it looks really silly

whosaidtha · 29/04/2024 18:02

Do you know what. The more I think about it the more I like it. It's really growing on me.

GirlyBassey · 29/04/2024 18:03

Jimma could work. Especially if you live in Australia, because it's how they pronounce Gemma.

Dacadactyl · 29/04/2024 18:03

Jimberley?!

No!

changedwwyd · 29/04/2024 18:04

Netruscan · 29/04/2024 11:22

We considered that but I think it's spelt : Jemima

OK, I with the other posters a hard no to Jimberly.

I have done a Google and it's slim pickings for a girl's name starting with Jim....best name I could see starting with Jim for a girl was Jimanekia...?

Edited post as maybe Jimaneika works better...either way not many options!

What about Grandad's middle name? Maybe more luck there x

buildersteacup · 29/04/2024 18:09

OH Lord, please dont give her that name- its bloody awful

Another lovely way to make a male name a bit more feminine is to hyphenate with something pretty. I’m thinking of something like “Jim-Pansy.”

If you wanted a little fun with the spelling you could try that as Jim- Panzee which would be a lovely double reference if there’s a family love of primates.

Edited

Jim- Panzee. Best one yet!

Notaflippinclue · 29/04/2024 18:13

Noooooh

Notaflippinclue · 29/04/2024 18:13

What about Jamie

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 29/04/2024 18:14

Please don’t call your child Jimberley, @Netruscan - you are naming an actual person - they will have to spend their entire life telling people that it’s not a mistake, her parents named her this on purpose.

She might well feel that you were so disappointed that she was a girl, and not a boy who could be named after your grandfather that you cobbled together his name into a vaguely female sounding name, rather than giving her her own name.

Moveoverdarlin · 29/04/2024 18:12

Jim- Panzee. Best one yet!

😂😂😂

notanotherrokabag · 29/04/2024 18:15

You're joking? Please tell me you're joking.

StuffLoriThangs · 29/04/2024 18:18

In all seriousness op. What about Jamie?

please don’t go for Jimberly.

Purplecatshopaholic · 29/04/2024 18:19

Sniggering away here until boyfriend asks me what’s funny! Please be joking op!

SpicyMoth · 29/04/2024 18:20

Like others "Jimberly" just made me giggle if I'm being totally honest!!

How about "Jem"?

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 29/04/2024 18:20

Have you considered Balonzina?

Helabel1 · 29/04/2024 18:21

Jim-Pansy is the best 🤣🤣

Piggywaspushed · 29/04/2024 18:24

LakeTiticaca · 29/04/2024 13:28

My mum was a cleaner and cleaned for a lady called Jamesina. Never heard that name before or since, but its slightly more acceptable than Jimberley 😅
I think Jaime would be better for a girl

Jamesina is a Highland thing. They tend to add Sina or Ina on to the end of paternal names .

My friend's mum was Donaldina.

Nanny0gg · 29/04/2024 18:28

Helabel1 · 29/04/2024 11:19

Please don't call your daughter Jimberly 😂😂

Anyone else saying it in Victoria Wood's voice?

PossumintheHouse · 29/04/2024 18:29

Yeah, sure. It's gorgeous.

Said nobody ever.

GoodVibesHere · 29/04/2024 18:34

Why are people being so mean? Jimberley is my eldest DD's name, I still love the name and so does she.

SlightlygrumpyBettyswaitress · 29/04/2024 18:35

Presumably dear grandad was named James. Go with that. Jim nickname if you must
