Originally going to be called Jim after my granddad, but we've found out we're having a girl. Would this work?

Gymkhana? She'll adore it if she turns out to love horses!

ICriedAllTheWayToTheChipShop · 29/04/2024 19:31

This thread has helped me to resolve a long-standing issue I've been having working out what they were singing about in Freed From Desire:
My lover's got no money
He's got his Jimberley

That one comes up on misheard lyrics threads all the time, so I know I won't be alone in my relief.

LuckyPeonies · 29/04/2024 19:29

Jimorra
Jimminy (hope your last name is not Cricket)
Jimellia
Jimabella
Jimily
Jimannah
Jimuby

please don’t do that to your child!! 😬

Berlinlover · 29/04/2024 19:25

I can’t believe this thread is still going, it’s obviously a windup.

Cowhen · 29/04/2024 19:15

Seriously, if you don't like 'Jamie' (which i think is lovely), how about choosing something with the same name meaning as James?

Megifer · 29/04/2024 19:14

Cowhen · 29/04/2024 18:53

Why not go international: Jim Jong Un

Jim Jong Un between other serious kind answers is sending me over the edge here 😂 what a thread!

Bignanna · 29/04/2024 19:09

There are so many lovely names out there,
there’s no need to have to think up outlandish names.

Bignanna · 29/04/2024 19:07

Skiphopbump · 29/04/2024 11:17

How about Jimobel or Jimoline?

Jimolene sounds like something you rub on cuts and bruises( germolene!)

GoldenTrout · 29/04/2024 19:06

Got to be Jimifred.

FangsForTheMemory · 29/04/2024 19:04

There's a Scottish name, Jamesina, which is the female equivalent of James but I wouldn't.

Jimberley? What are you on?

Darkflame · 29/04/2024 19:03

Jimberly? 🤔🤨
Personally I don't think it works.
Why not consider;
Jinny
Jina
Jemma
Jimi, Jimmi
Jimena
Jamesina
Jaime

Good luck!

Malo05 · 29/04/2024 19:02

My auntie was called Thomasina (ina) for short.
It was after her father Thomas.

PutThatDownNow · 29/04/2024 19:00

BenJIMina?

Moonshine5 · 29/04/2024 18:59

@Mumsnet HQ please add to classics

Trulyme · 29/04/2024 18:56

I don’t like it and I rarely say that about names.

I usually like names that are unique but this just sounds a mash up of Kimberly and Jim, which just sounds wrong.

You can honour and appreciate your grandad without needing to call your child after him.

Any J name will suffice and it doesn’t need the word Jim in.

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 29/04/2024 18:55

are you serious? No, absolutely not.

Jim is short for James. How about Jamesina? Or Jill?

I prefer Jimothy. Or Jimon. Or at a push Jim-Jams.

Jimothy, that's the one 😂
