Originally going to be called Jim after my granddad, but we've found out we're having a girl. Would this work?

Jimbo (and the jet set)

Sorry Op it's just too funny. But we'll put it down to hormones. It's a lovely sentiment but Jimberley just doesn't work. Even most Kimberly's end up as Kim which is known as a female name, Jimberley getting shortened will end up as Jim, Jimbo or Berl.

Viviennemary · 29/04/2024 21:35

It's probably the worst name I've seen on here for a long time. Absolutely beyond dire.

InsolentNoise · 29/04/2024 21:32

Jimapell

just don’t go to France or it will be very confusing when you meet people

2wheelmum · 29/04/2024 21:31

Thank you all my lovely mums netters, for the most fantabulous thread making me cry with laughter after a shitty day x

Kelly51 · 29/04/2024 21:31

My grandparents were from Lewis, it was common to use a fathers name
for a daughter ; James would be Jamesina.

Ghosttofu99 · 29/04/2024 21:30

If the Jim was short for James then Jamie? Or Ja’mie😉

Renamed · 29/04/2024 21:29

Jimmi or Jimmie is an actual option…

Whydoikeeprejoining · 29/04/2024 21:29

This is so fucking funny.
The poster that said Garybelle. I'm dying.

If we are going to be silly, here's some of my favourites for middle names:
Steeve-arina
Darrenella
Johnda

MrsCobbit · 29/04/2024 21:28

Really - just give your child a normal name - that’s the kindest thing you can do. Jimberley. Is years of poking fun - do you want your child to face this for your vanity and indulgence

To be fair people probably said similar about Nigella once upon a time!

Nigella is a lovely flower, ‘love-in-a-mist’.

moderndilemma · 29/04/2024 21:23

@Netruscan did your grandad have a middle name that could be more easily adapted? Roberta, Wilma, Andie?

Rewis · 29/04/2024 21:22

Maybe Jimofer or Jimephine?

notprincehamlet · 29/04/2024 21:21

It sounds like a 1970's children's television character name
Have you seen Jimberly?
Yes she's through the round window

NeedToChangeName · 29/04/2024 21:21

Gemma

MotherofGorgons · 29/04/2024 21:18

Are you a Duggar?

Helpmefindthiscuff · 29/04/2024 21:14

@viques @DailyEnergyCrisis
Kimberley of ‘five pints. Five pints of sherry’ fame?

I also know of a Jimothy (not his real name obviously).

Jimberly and ‘left him for a taxi driver’ puts me in mind of a Squeeze song.

Renamed · 29/04/2024 21:10

It’s spelt Xhimbelie.

TheCultureHusks · 29/04/2024 21:08

Sarah-Jim would be nice. The 70s are coming back round again!

Lisa-Jim?

TheCultureHusks · 29/04/2024 21:08

Evie-Jim
Sarah-Jim
Jim-Marie
Jim-Louise
Jimlizabeth-May

GentlemanJack · 29/04/2024 21:05

Jimberleigh - Mai/Maii/May/Mae/Maei/Maeii.
Spoilt for choice.

Hilarious, I knew a baby through work called Jimbob. We laughed a lot. (Out of sight and hearing of the parents)

Yep, I'm pretty sure one of my fellow students went on to call his kid, Jimbob. He was living in the US then but even so...
