Thoughts on the name Crusoe

I’ve recently come across the name Crusoe and I really like it especially with the nickname Crue for a boy. Whenever I mention it to anyone they think it’s a bit weird so I was wondering what everyone on here thought of it?

I like the middle names
Crusoe Dean
Crusoe Brooks
Crusoe Jack

And sibling sets I’ve been debating are
Crusoe and Kassian
Crusoe and Koda
Crusoe and Cash
Crusoe and Florian
Crusoe and Foster
Crusoe and Juniper “pip”
Crusoe and Olympia “pia”

I know a 'Foster', it's fine.

Olympia is a fab name.

Juniper- if it were 'Juni' for a girl, that's cute.

Kassian and Koda are suffering from the K for Kardashian problem, but it didn't hold them back! (I would not name anyone with a K although Karola and names like that are popular in Eastern Europe and some look fine).

I think all those names are truly awful, sorry OP.

Vastlyoverrated · 28/04/2024 12:47

I think people are exaggerating as usual how bad things would be with this name. It's not my preference, it doesn't sound that nice, but names are much more varied and different than they used to be due to internationalization and people wanting 'unique' names.

I felt sorry for the boy at my uni called 'Satchel' but it isn't as bad as that.

I don't love it but people aren't going to recoil in horror at the name in your average primary school these days. I don't see a massive difference between Caleb or Sonny or Jax and Crusoe myself.

lovemycbf · 28/04/2024 12:45

Yeah I too think Robinson, it's too try hard /quirky just give the child a nice name

menopausalmare · 28/04/2024 12:42

Trying too hard to be different. Just call him Tom, he'll thank you when he's older.

tinytemper66 · 28/04/2024 12:41

Oh dear. 😅

Crusoe Brookes sounds like a firm of no win no fee solicitors who advertise on daytime telly. Please don't.

😀

OP, this is silly, and planning ‘sibset’ names is even sillier.

I’m assuming you’re very young, and that you aren’t pregnant. You have terrible taste in names. Think again before saddling an actual human being with these horrors.

ukku · 28/04/2024 12:40

Are you Australian OP?

This!!

takemeawayagain · 28/04/2024 12:39

Jesus Christ, Crusoe and Juniper? This has got to be a wind up, you're naming people, not dogs.

usernother · 28/04/2024 12:38

Sounds like a restaurant.

boysmuminherts · 28/04/2024 12:38

Like Robinson? Awful

Overtheatlantic · 28/04/2024 12:38

He will surely get bullied.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 28/04/2024 12:37

oh for goodness sake !

you will be naming a real living person, that person is stuck with that silly stupid name for life !

or at least until he goes and changes his name by deed pole.

and as for a nickname, is this inspired by tik tok or something ? as nicknames should just happen , not be thought about and planned in advance.

if you want to call him ' crew' then that is what you name him - and it is equally stupid !

my dd's name often has abbreviations of it i.e. if she were Elizabeth - some people shorten it to Beth or Liz etc

we didn't

but I often called her pumpkin - it was a term of endearment

Queenofwistfulthinking · 28/04/2024 12:35

Fuck no.

Dareisayiseethesunshine · 28/04/2024 12:34

Smashing if your surname is Robinson.. School register will be cool....

Oldermum84 · 28/04/2024 12:34

Terrible.

SirChenjins · 28/04/2024 12:33

Don’t be so silly - you’re naming a human, not a puppy.
