Oh yes! I like Tavi/Tavey.

KirstenBlest · 20/04/2024 13:04

@Dustyblue , the one I know goes by Tavi/Tavia (Tav rhyming with Dave)

jackstini · 20/04/2024 09:33

Octavia & Celeste are both beautiful

Don't like Clementine at all. Makes me think of oranges or the song 'oh my darling' also Clemmie as a nn sounds too much like clammy

Dustyblue · 20/04/2024 04:40

I like Octavia. It's an old, classic literary name and it's bold without being brassy. My only problem is it doesn't shorten to anything good I can think of. Don't have many Skodas here in Aus so no concern there!

Clementine is lovely, quite popular but I wouldn't be fussed about that. Clemmie is a delightful nickname.

Celeste is my least favourite.

Enjoy your girl 💕

I like all three names.

Octavia is lovely
Clementine, I like pronounced Clementeen.
Celeste is the winner, by a short nose.

Others you might like ..
Clemency
Ottilie
Celia
Cedella
Ellen

Clementine. Congratulations!

DramaAlpaca · 20/04/2024 03:17

Gosh. Difficult choice.

I love Octavia but I think you might have to be really quite posh to carry it off.

Celeste is beautiful, but to carry this one off you might need to be French. Oh, and not mind obscure references to the Cileste contraceptive pill.

So, I'd choose Clementine. Gorgeous name, though I have trouble deciding whether it should end -teen or -tyne. Probably -tyne, like the song.

Best way to decide it speak the names out loud as if it's your beautiful grown up daughter, "Hi I'm Octavia" "Hi I'm Celeste" and the inevitably "Hi I'm Clemmie".

Edit: Personally, I wouldn't want to be called any of these names and would rather be simple traditional Jane or Mary or Sophie.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 19/04/2024 23:40

I’m one of the few on these boards who loves Ancient Roman, Shakespearean Octavia - I think it has such a pretty, elegant sound and don’t think it sounds as posh or inaccessible as it used to be- what with the abundance of similar style Olivia’s, Ophelia’s, Aurelia’s etc about and the popularity of actress Octavia Spencer. The name’s rapidly increasing in popularity too, although I can’t see it ever making the top 100. Cute nn’s in Tay/Taya/Tavi or even Vaya as well.

I find Clementine quite trendy ,although a pretty sound (but nn Clem/ Clemmie is awful- sounds too much like phlegm or clammy). Celeste reminds me of the elephant or 90’s pop group Daphne and Celeste, but I understand that’s just me 🤣

shoopshoopdedoo · 19/04/2024 21:03

Celeste

Amdone123 · 19/04/2024 11:28

Another vote for Celeste - love it.

Nicebloomers · 19/04/2024 11:25

Celeste is my favourite from your list. Congratulations!

KirstenBlest · 19/04/2024 10:20

Which one goes best with the surname?

They are likely to be shortened. Try the different diminutives on their own and with the surname,

theduchessofspork · 19/04/2024 08:33

Octavia - beautiful but a bit punchy, I really like it

Celeste is a birth control pill, and beyond that has SLIGHT stripper vibes. Cecile might be an alternative?

Clementine is fine but it’s a bit twee, it would likely be shortened and I don’t really like Clem/Clemmy/Tina. Caroline might be an alternative

GreyhoundGal1 · 19/04/2024 08:22

I love Celeste the most. Congratulations!

RainStreakedWindows · 19/04/2024 07:19

Best is clementine. Second best is Celeste. Octavia last - not keen anyway but it sounds like a Skoda

Theoldwoman · 19/04/2024 06:56

Celeste one hundred percent.

HuntingoftheSnark · 19/04/2024 06:49

I love Octavia and would go for that. I don't think the eight reference matters at all.

Theduchy · 19/04/2024 05:40

Clementine is beautiful

gillybombilly · 19/04/2024 05:05

Clementine - beautiful 🙂

Mumofgirls2017 · 19/04/2024 04:29

Clementine 🍊 ❤️

Ikeameatballs · 18/04/2024 23:02

Celeste is my favourite from your choices, Clementine second. Dislike Octavia.

Other ideas:
Constance
Adelaide
Penelope
Freda
Jemima

SkaneTos · 18/04/2024 23:02

Congratulations!

Octavia, Celeste and Clementine are all beautiful names.
My favourite would be Clementine.

Octavia makes me think of the car, Skoda Octavia.

RosesAndHellebores · 18/04/2024 23:00

Octaves has to have an 8 in the birthday or be the eighth child imo.

Celeste and Clementine even Stevens.

Moreteaandchocolate · 18/04/2024 22:58

My favourite is Celeste - a lovely name, not too frilly and doesn't tend to get shortened. Not overused either.

Octavia and Clementine I personally find a bit grand for my taste.

I don’t know if you want more ideas, but if so -
Elise, Estelle, Selena, Genevieve, Elodie, Delphine, Adeline, Thalia
