Does Harry's unpopularity affect the name?

Trying to chose a boys name and we like Harry but as Harry and Meghan are not so popular people now, I'm wondering how that will effect the name?

Harry is an incredibly popular name. I honestly wouldn't associate it with Prince H. Just as likely to think of Harry Potter tbh.

Anyway, Harry is really Henry iirc. Harry just his nickname

@Icehockeyflowers
I don't always have to talk to someone to have an opinion on them. They are lots of people I haven't met that I have a low opinion of. Most of the Royal family are in that group.

Don’t be ridiculous. Prince Harry isn’t some sort of evil monster.
Nah, but he is a prize twit.

I’ve no idea. I’ve never met or spoken to the man. Unlike you obviously.

Harry Potter is the more famous Harry anyway.

Icehockeyflowers · 17/04/2024 14:55

Don’t be ridiculous. Prince Harry isn’t some sort of evil monster. The British media are obsessed with him. The rest of the world don’t give a toss about the English royal family apart from seeing them like tv soap characters. Nobody is giving any of them any kind of elevated status outside of the UK.

Harry is a nice name imo. Much nicer than Henry/George/William/Louis/Charles/Philip which are all stodgy names.

FreeTheBeast · 17/04/2024 14:50

Haha, well I thought you meant Harry Styles so there is that 😂😂😂😂😂

AliceOlive · 17/04/2024 14:49

I love the name Harry and don’t think of any particular Harry when I hear it.

PuttingDownRoots · 17/04/2024 14:43

People still use Andrew for example.

And James/Jimmy.

These namesake have done a lot worse than be a bit of a twit.

PuttingDownRoots · 17/04/2024 14:40

Harry is too common a name to be associated with one celebrity

If you called your children Harry and Megan, or Harry and William... it might raise an eyebrow. But just Harry, or just Megan, or just William, or Catherine, Charles, Phillip, George etc... no one will notice.

Lampzade · 17/04/2024 14:40

Strange question

Katiesaidthat · 17/04/2024 14:39

Seriously, the man isn´t Hitler, people need to get a grip.
If the name is less popular so much the better. Less people in your kid´s class with his same name. I like the name Harry, actually the men I have met with this name have been really nice.

Overtheatlantic · 17/04/2024 14:37

Are you mad? Think about what you’re asking.

notsettledonaname · 17/04/2024 14:35

Choose not chose.
