I met a girl on the beach when I was about 7 and we became best of friends for the day. We didn't speak the same language, she was greek. Her name was Cassiora. I never met her again.

I have looked it up and it's not a 'real' name but I love it. What are your thoughts?

Cassiora does sound like 2 names smushed together ( Cassandra/Cassia and Theodora/Leonora) but there are quite a few names that also sound like that to me (Annabelle for example) that are still very popular, so if you love it there’s nothing wrong with it as such. A Cassiora certainly wouldn’t get any negative reaction/ surprise where I live.

I must admit though I’d assume a female Cory was short for Cordelia or maybe Coralie though as they seem more obvious.

I can’t think of any that include the Cassie / Callie part as well as the ora part, but here are some names with the “or” sound -

There again, I was going to name my imaginary daughter Ophelia Guinevere. Fortunately, I had two sons instead who have very traditional names!

I wonder if you misheard or misremembered the name? It isn't terrible but it sounds like two names (maybe Rita Ora's little sister Cassie Grin)

these are all lovely. I really like the 'ore' sound in Cassiora. My mother's name is Dora, which is just beautiful. Any ideas of similar Cassie/Callie names with that sound?

Cassieopie will likely be shortened to Cassie though, which you wanted to avoid? I personally find it a bit long and tricky to spell, but just my opinion :)

Cora would be a nicer shortening if you did go for Cassiora, maybe? ( I personally prefer Cora as the full name though)

Cassia is okay but don't pick it based on the nickname Cory - she may hate it and go for something completely different.

Cassia is much nicer, I’d use that

Cassiora is too like Kia ora, and Cory isn’t nice either (and is mostly an American boys name)
