The only one I like is Dulcie.

Portia always sounds a bit stodgy to me. Ottilie is too frilly. Sasha a bit dull and Scarlett seems to have had its moment and already feels a bit dated.

Yokaiwatch · 18/04/2024 10:07

@namedilemma45 i just noticed your update. Congratulations. Beautiful choice

Yokaiwatch · 18/04/2024 10:06

My opinions

Scarlett - Beautiful
Sasha - I like it, it’s a little different but not unheard of
Portia - not keen on this, I think of a Porsche and I don’t think it’s as nice as the other names
Dulcie - I don’t like it, I prefer Darcy which is similar sounding and doesn’t remind of ice cream
Ottilie - I think it sounds pretentious and not a pretty name. I think of an otter.

Scarlett or Sasha are your best choices

SkaneTos · 18/04/2024 09:51

OP, thank you for the update!

Beautiful name. Congratulations!

I like Saskia as suggested by a PP.

Your names don't (to me) seem to have much in common with each other, so it's hard to guess what else you might like! Are you looking for a sort of international appeal? Nina, Lara, Julia, Eloise?

PennyPugwash · 12/04/2024 12:57

Scarlett was my baby name if I had have had a girl. I absolutely adore it.
It's bold and beautiful ♥️

@miniaturepixieonacid
Thank you. Some great options. Brontë has just become a front runner

I think you should let it fall at the fence

Sasha is nice, I personally prefer it as a nn for Alexandra or Saskia, but either way it’s elegant and not overdone

Sorry I’m not too keen on Brontë or Ottilia. I still really like Sasha from your original list :)

Other ideas

Darcy
Saskia
Eden
Romy / Romilly
Rowan
Cassia
Sienna

KirstenBlest · 12/04/2024 09:39

No to Bronte. Sounds too similar to brunt and brwnt (dirty in Welsh).

@Nicebloomers , not just you. It's like the name Carmel makes me think of caramel.

Nicebloomers · 12/04/2024 09:28

Otillie is lovely. I want to like Dulcie but I just think Dulce de leche (entirely my issue though, don’t let me put you off)
Bronte is nice.

@theduchessofspork 😂
I appreciate the honesty

Does Otilia sound good to anyone?

No

theduchessofspork · 12/04/2024 00:07

Alexandra or Saskia nn Sasha is great, Sasha on its own is a bit undistinguished, but nice enough

Portia - I like it, though I wouldn’t use it because the car jokes would get very old

Scarlett - like it but it’s had it’s day

Dulcie de leche No

Ottilie No, otters, potties

NotABeliever · 11/04/2024 23:15

Scarlett or Sasha are the only two nice names on your list.
Ottilie or Ottilia also a no.
There are so many beautiful girls names! How about Julia, Charlotte, Audrey, Eloise?

All the names on your list are beautiful!

Portia makes me think of Ellen DeGeneres' wife Portia de Rossi (I think her name used to be Amanda, but she changed it to Portia).

garlictwist · 11/04/2024 22:41

Ottilie is awful (sorry).

Dislike portia. The rest are ok.

miniaturepixieonacid · 11/04/2024 22:40

namedilemma45 · 11/04/2024 20:45

Thanks for the input. I think I need some better name choices

Not if you like the ones you have, you don't! It's your baby. And this is not a bad list.

But, if you want other ideas on similar lines:

Astrid, Alexis, Audrey, Bronte, Beatrix, Bethan, Carys, Cecilia, Cassia, Delphi, Daphne, Darcey, Evadne, Elina, Evelyn, Fearne, Fabia, Fenella, Georgia, Greta, Gabriella, Hazel, Hope, Halle, Ingrid, India, Imogen, Juliet, Joanna, Jocelyn, Keziah, Kathryn, Kiera, Leonie, Leah, Lois, Margot, Mabel, Meredith, Nancy, Noelle, Niamh, Odette, Opal, Ophelia, Ramona, Romilly, Robyn, Sorrell, Saskia, Sylvia, Tamara, Thalia, Tara, Verity, Vanessa, Violet, Willow, Wren, Wanda, Xanthe, Yvette, Zelda, Zara, Zillah

MillyMollyMandy01 · 11/04/2024 22:33

Sasha is the best, but how about Stella?

Mumofgirls2017 · 11/04/2024 22:15

I’d pick ottilie. Scarlett is the only one I take real issue with as don’t like the ‘scar’ sound and think it’s a bit harsh sounding? Personal taste though!

chocciebiscuits · 11/04/2024 21:58

Ottilie definitely 😍

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 11/04/2024 21:20

Eep, sorry OP I don’t really like the sound of any of them.

If pushed, I guess I’d pick Sasha even though I think of it as a nn. But trying to think of similar style or sounding names:
Juliet?
Verity?
Saskia?
Felicity?
Rosalind?
Celia?
Viola?
Cecily?
