A name like Jane, but not Jane.

And by like Jane, I don't mean Jenna or Joan or Jake!

I mean that sort of name. A simple, old fashioned, pretty, girl's name.

Kate or Clara? Annie? Alice? I think that's the sort of name I mean, but I can't think of the right one.

Something beginning with C or K would work well.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

kitty?

Lordashley · 31/03/2008 10:55

We have a Klara (spelt with a K and said like Tara as she is half German).

DD2 due in three weeks will be Astrid, Lily, Lotte, or Ursula (depending on what she looks like!).

Susannah is a nice name but maybe a bit too old-fashioned.

MadamePlatypus · 30/03/2008 20:36

I think Susan is really due for a revival. Must be Susan though, not Sue. (Nothing against Sue, but it doesn't have that Swallows and Amazons ring to it).

LaComtesse · 30/03/2008 20:34

Adam didn't have much luck with his wives then did he? Lilith being 'possessed' and Eve got him thrown out of Eden .

I quite like the name Lilith although at the moment, I'm slightly obsessed with the name Phyllis. I'm not even TTC .

PeggySioux · 30/03/2008 20:27

Yes, Lilith was Adam's first wife.

"Derived from Assyrian lilitu meaning "of the night". This was the name of a demon in ancient Assyrian myths. In Jewish and Islamic tradition she was Adam's first wife, sent out of Eden and replaced by Eve because she would not submit to him. The offspring of Adam and Lilith were the evil spirits of the world."

Yet I'm not put off. Dp says this can only be due to hormones.

Wasn't Lilith Adam's first wife?

My dd has Rose as one of her middle names - the other one is Elizabeth but Rose is after my Nan. Her real name was Rosetta but she was always known as Rose plus Rosetta would have been hard to have carried off with my surname which starts with a Ruh sound .

georgie34 · 30/03/2008 20:13

I'd google Lilith first if I were you... not great associations (remember Frasier...?!)

DD is Anna but we liked Rose and Kate too. Friend's DD is Celia, which is a bit more unusual now Clara is making a comeback.

I don't know why she doesn't just call herself Jo.

I think she is just a bit annoyed that she was named after her aunt who was called 'kathrine' but none as 'Joan'.

jakethepeg · 30/03/2008 18:39

Lilia is pretty too.

I love Louise and Louisa - I don't know any girls around DS's age (4) called this. Very popular as a middle name I think (is mine!).

Eve, Coral, Hope are lovely too.

Eddas · 30/03/2008 18:30

if you like lily or lilith then how about lillian?
