I have a Reuben, he's the only one in his school year. I've never ever been asked if he's Jewish!

I don't think people think like that nowadays

I don’t know if he still gets asked or not. Maybe not. But as a teen he got it a lot. Sounds like it’s a more common name now.

SoundTheSirens · 09/04/2024 16:17

I know of one, he's about 3 or 4 I think.

mogtheexcellent · 09/04/2024 16:16

I know 2. Both babies in chi chi parts of London.

So it really depends on where you are as to how popular locally it is.

heavencakes · 09/04/2024 16:13

Popular round me

RuthW · 09/04/2024 15:33

Not heard any for a while. It was popular a few years ago.

SallyWD · 09/04/2024 15:29

It's fairly popular where I live. I think I know about five between the ages of 9 and 14.
Its a nice name though.

Theoldwoman · 09/04/2024 15:22

One of my top boys names. I know two, one is 40 and the other is 19.

Flopsy145 · 09/04/2024 15:17

I know of about 3, I think it's becoming more popular

LauderSyme · 09/04/2024 15:14

I know one who is a teenager and one who is canine!

Berlinlover · 09/04/2024 15:09

I know one and he’s 22. I think his mother said she named him after a boxer.

Katiesaidthat · 09/04/2024 15:03

I know three, two in Spain and one in England. None are Jewish.

VivaLaResistance · 09/04/2024 14:46

Oh and yes I got asked a lot if we were Jewish when he was born. It also gets misspelt to Rueben a lot, even by close family!

TheFormidableMrsC · 09/04/2024 14:45

I know three but scattered across the country. It's not very common. Lovely name!

VivaLaResistance · 09/04/2024 14:44

Common in my house as I have a Reuben haha. He is 12 and when he was born I'd only ever met one - which was where I got the name - and he was a grown man. As soon as I'd had him they seemed to pop up everywhere! We know of 3 others now.

SweetCinnamon · 09/04/2024 14:42

I know of one

ggggggooooo · 09/04/2024 14:08

It's common in Israel

Moreteaandchocolate · 09/04/2024 13:56

I know an 11 year old and a 9 year old called Reuben (from different areas of the country)

Stoatingabout · 09/04/2024 13:49

I know a few. I wanted it for my youngest but my husband didn't. We have a Rufus instead which I prefer now.

DuchessOfSausage · 09/04/2024 13:49

It gets misspelt a lot as Rueben. The sandwich is Reuben sandwich.

pecanpie101 · 09/04/2024 13:48

I know 2

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 09/04/2024 13:48

I know 2 preschool kids with this name. I don't even know many people with kids.

PotatoPudding · 09/04/2024 13:43

They really do! The parents of the ones I know frequently get asked this.

I've genuinely never come across any of the Reubens I know being asked if they were Jewish. It's a very common name these days so I'd be surprised to find someone assuming a child with this name was automatically Jewish.

JustGettingStarted · 09/04/2024 13:43

In America it would be a Jewish name. It's mostly associated with the sandwich invented by a Jewish deli owner named Rueben.
