What do you think? Alternative spelling is Kerenza, which I think I might prefer. Cornish name, meaning 'love'. Not Cornish, just think it's beautiful.

I love this name so much it's 100% my "one that didn't get used" was on pur shortlist for ds but alas he is a boy (and I love his name)

I prefer the z spelling and also do not associate it with Karen as you hear the Ren Sah sound more.

whateveryouwantmetosay · 01/09/2024 20:42

My dd middle name is Karenza (DH half Cornish so all our kids needed a Cornish name somewhere). I love it, and there's not many nice Cornish names to choose from!

Mandarinaduck · 01/09/2024 20:32

Absolutely beautiful, either with the s or the z.

DeCaray · 01/09/2024 18:44

Not Kerensa.

I like Kerenza or Carenza.

What about Demelza which is similar sounding and is a beautiful name?

gettingolderbutcooler · 01/09/2024 18:38

Sounds like an artificial sweetener.

muddyford · 01/09/2024 18:25

I've seen it also spelt Carenza.

Roselilly36 · 01/09/2024 18:23

karensa isn’t a name to me, just makes me think of furniture, if you Google you will see why.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 01/09/2024 18:08

Nice. Prefer the Z spelling.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 01/09/2024 18:08

I think it’s absolutely beautiful. I also love Elowen.

Firebird83 · 01/09/2024 17:59

I prefer the Kerensa spelling.

ladygindiva · 01/09/2024 16:33

Kerenza is lovely..I live in Cornwall and know many of the following;
Kerenza
Demelza
Morwenna
Elowen
Lowenna
We have some great names

anaconda1831 · 01/09/2024 16:20

ny baby is called Kerensa and I love it! We couldn’t choose between Kerensa and Wren and realised of she’s Kerensa she could be Ren for short! And a positive Karen story the final reason we settled on it was that our midwife when she was born was called Karen so it seemed to fit

KirstenBlest · 02/04/2024 11:34

It's not like it in meaning but the K-r-n is common to both, so perhaps it's a bit like saying Cleo, Chloe and Clara or Evie, Eva, Ava and Ivy are similar.
I quite like the name Karen.

But look at all the Karen comments on here.

Well that's maybe outside of Cornwall. But here it definitely doesn't. It's nothing like the name Karen.

I know 5 Kerenza's (all with different spellings) and none of them have any association to the name Karen. So don't worry about that.

But look at all the Karen comments on here.

MrsMoastyToasty · 01/04/2024 22:06

I like Carenza. Carenza Lewis was one of the main archaeologists on Time Team.

User373433 · 01/04/2024 22:02

I know one aged 6, spelt Carenza though.

eyeblob · 01/04/2024 21:54

Was on our list a long time ago. Lowenna means joy if I remember right.

No I don’t like it

KirstenBlest · 01/04/2024 21:48
Grin
Iop · 01/04/2024 21:44

I usually like Cornish names. But I'd never heard this one before and it instantly makes me think of a credenza, especially if you spell it with a C.

Enko · 01/04/2024 21:41

Love it

theduchessofspork · 01/04/2024 21:41

Better with a z

Prefer Keziah though

Or Karina

KirstenBlest · 01/04/2024 21:36

@SageGreenShoes , I do too. Kerensa sounds quite harsh IMO but Lowenna is pretty and sound quite melodic.

Elowen will get mispronounced. It's Elo-OW-en but will get people saying it as EL-ow-en. Lowenna works better.
