Beth - would leave girl with initial BJ and I just can't...

Genivieve (sp) - would shorten to Jenny and that is MIL!

Imogen - again could become Jenny.

Zoe - gave it to one of our cats instead

LyraSilvertongue · 29/03/2008 18:33

Felix. Ex's wife has a Felix. Would be weird.

dizzydixies · 29/03/2008 18:31

Alfred - best friends want it for their first if its a boy.

We settled on Archie and he is such a cheeky one who so matches his name.

chefswife · 29/03/2008 17:41

My husband?s surname is Italian and is difficult to match with any name so pretty much any English name is out. But names I would never use is Brigette or Dorothy because of girls I knew in high school and John or Tom because they are so boring.

Dusty but surname is Spittlehouse! Hermione but then the Harry Potter thing took off! Anyway had a boy. I really liked Ruben but I was out voted. Settled for Elliott.

Just thought of another one - Edmund - absolutely love it but it's the name of my ex.

JingleyJen · 29/03/2008 14:48

Charlotte Grace - because we had boys

lizzih1974 · 29/03/2008 14:46

I love Freya but it rhymes with our surname, even tried turning it into Freya-ann, but DH said no.

Love Oscar, but with our surname its the same as an American hotdog manufacturer, could live with that until I met someone in the UK who works for them!

barbara3 · 29/03/2008 14:31

Eva - did not go with surname but Ava worked well
Aiden, Fred, Callum were my favs for boys
Olivia - too popular
Charlotte

keevamum · 29/03/2008 14:19

For a boy we can't have Bert or Fred. Can you guess the surname? Would love Frederick after my grandfather but its a no-no. Girls names I loved but DH didn't, Frances - I love it.

woodstock3 · 29/03/2008 14:12

mia, because thats what father in law called his cat

cyteen · 29/03/2008 13:48

lotuseener - I used to love Stella too, but a year working opposite the most insane megabitch in the world quickly cured me of that!

katyjo · 29/03/2008 13:00

LOVE THIS THREAD LOADS OF NAME IDEAS KEEP IT GOING!!

I love Mia but can't have it as our surname starts mi so would sound funny.

Really like jenna , took me a while to realise why you couldn't have it with Taylor - lol - so glad you realised!!

missyhissey · 29/03/2008 12:59

Lola. I love this name but other people kept mentioning songs about transvestites and showgirls so DP flatly refused to have it!

TwilightSurfer · 29/03/2008 12:57

Names I like but can't use:

Owen...because I'm having a girl
Ella...to close to Emma, my niece
Lauren...my cousin's daughter's name
Claudia...my brother gave it to his DD, our late mother's name
Roxy...DH hates it
Alexa...DH hates it
Sadie...DH hates it
(do you see a pattern here?)

lljkk · 29/03/2008 12:31

Diana, complicated family reasons.

MrsBadger · 29/03/2008 12:27

Araminta and Antigone (Minty and Tiggy)

just too poncey for our modest lifestyle
